Re: Where do you see geocaching in the next 10 years?

Too many restrictions, from GC and land owners/managers (parks etc)
Sites like GCA wil be the place to find the better caches.

Re: Garmin Oregon 500 Series with digital Camera

The 550 does have a tilt-compensated 3-axis compass, just means that you don't have to hold it level for the compass to work amongst othr things

Re: Garmin Oregon 500 Series with digital Camera

If your other waypoint are uploaded with a different file name or created on the oregon they willl have a different file name.

I have waymarks, geocaches and created waypionts If I change one it doesn't alter the other.

Re: Garmin Oregon 500 Series with digital Camera

If you use GSAK you could change, delete or add caches then upload the gpx file with the same name. That would over write the existing file and make the changes you want

Re: Garmin Oregon 500 Series with digital Camera

Nope [-( Cache info is stored in GPX files like most other data on the Oregons, however at this stage they do not have a file management ability.....deleting the whole file is the only option. mm I would ...

Geocaching - Sport or Hobby?

A few of us were talking today and we could not decide if caching is a spot or a hobby.

Some are competitive  others take a more leisurely pace or could it be both depending on the day or a FTF

Re: New Program - GSAK (Geocaching Swiss Army Knife)

I have used GSAK in the past with my etrex and I could upload from different databases no probs. I updated to the latest version of GSAK last night then tried to load various databases onto an Oregon 550 and each time I loaded a new database it seems to remove the previously loaded caches. It doesn'...

Re: Garmin Oregon 500 Series with digital Camera

The 550 is great =D> Its good to go paperless again and the camera quality is better than I expected. It has taken a bit to work out the different profiles and navigate around the different menu’s but i’m starting to get the hang of it now and the more I use it the better it is. Race to FTF,

I'm Putting together some information for PAHSMA. They had concerns about people racing to get a first to find and the dammage to the environment it could cause. I think in their minds it could get like the start of the Melbourne cup. That made me think just how many people run into other cac...
