Thanks. Good to know that its just priorities and that it hadn't died a natural death.

Bump. Did anything ever happen here?

I gave up maintaining my recommendations and removed them because I didn't want my recommendations to be stale. It's too hard to try and maintain a list of top ten caches.

I thought you might like that ;)

Mind if I direct the Kiwi's to contribute to the wiki as well? I've been wanting to put one up on gps.org.nz, but since you've got one going - I reckon it would be better for us to contribute to your wiki instead.

And now try this link - I've added a handful of pages as a demo.

You can go further and create subcategories within categories.

Is it possible to have one page set up as a glossary rather than lots of little pages? If you want to be particularly cunning, try adding [[Category:Glossary]] to the end of any page you want to be added to a glossary. Then there will be a Glossary page available that automatically sorts alphabetic...

Keep it simple... Encourage distinction . I think this can be achieved by handing out a limited number of "Yes, I recommend this cache". Unfortunately a 1-5 system won't work, as some cachers will take 1 and 2 ratings on their cache rather negatively. Hence I like to stick with the postive-focused ...

Agree, I see my top x caches as the top x caches I have done. I just want a few more so I don't have to keep revisiting my list and managing recommendations.

Bump ;) If there is no further discussion, how about a poll? I'd prefer if the gc.com.au admins posted the poll, if they agree we should go down this path. FIRST POLL Is the current allocation of 10 cache recommendations reasonable? - Yes - No If NO is the most popular, then we should look at having...

I also like the idea of being able to put some sort of comment with a recommendation Isn't that what you get from the actual cache logs? If I like the scenery, or the container etc, then I'll mention it in the log, as long as it doesn't give anything away. As someone mentioned earlier, this sort of...

Wow! I'm a total Geocaching newbie, but all this stuff is so complex! Care to consider the complexity that goes into the little GPS of yours? ;) The idea is develop a system which is simple and easy to use - but that may mean that there is some back-end complexity that most people don't see, but ne...

I think all it means is that if you start with 10 recs, as you do now, then you won't get any more until you get more than 100 finds. I think that is reasonable. I would be suprised if most sub-100 caches didn't change their recs as they found new caches that they want to recommend. Swampgecko - re ...

I can live with that idea, in fact it is a very good idea. I have been nutting my brain to work out a fair way that doesn't emphisis the find count... your suggestion is better than anything I have come up with. Thanks! I was trying to come up with something simple enough that doesn't change things...

... how will my current ten recommendations be trimmed when the time comes... Good point. Perhaps the proportional system only gets applied to cachers with 100 or more finds. That way those under 100 still get their 10 recommendations, and after 100 finds you move to the proportional system, this p...

I think that 5% of finds might be a little to few, I think somewhere around the 10% mark is good, maybe even as high as 15%. I'd expect (and hope!) to be able to recommend at least 1 cache in ten out of the ones I do, ideally a little higher - perhaps 12.5% (one is eight caches sounds like a reasona...
