modified sine wave inverter are killers of ac moters but shouldnt be a problem for laptops. We use one on our boat to run a large fan which we know will harm the fan over time but they are cheap. When its working you can hear a strange hum coming from the fan.

A nano cache was placed on the base plate of a 1960's Bloodhound missle that is in the public grounds out the front of the Darwin RAAF b...

Well done mickal555 on your Vistahcx you should be now able to find caches in the blackberrys with no problems. The Vista's have the best screens I have seen in bright sunlight or in the thick of the blackberry bushes.

You have to wonder why the vista is cheaper than the 60CSX when they seem to do the same. Having owned a Vista but now use a 60CSX and Colorado300 I can tell you they are not the same. The antenna on the 60 and Colorado work so much better in low reception areas. The rubber on the case on the vista ...

I have found when setting a WP for a hide I turn the compass off and seem to get a more acurate coord. I have set a cache hide profile on our Colorado with the compass off and just change to that profile when needed. To find a cache I walk to it by following the compass. On the water when we sail we...

Will attend. That will make two gibbo003's would need a hotel or motel as no camping gear and April in Wagga probably would be far to cold for Darwin cachers.

We will be in Adelaide in about two weeks but I think the record will be safe. :D :D :D The Wedding we are going to may get in the way of our caching. We will be in the Victor Harbour area for a day and then up in the hills at Bridgewater for the rest. Hope to pick up as many as we can though.

I went for both 60Csx and the colorado 300. I know I just love electronic things. The 300 is great and with the profiles, it is very easy to switch from car nav to geocaching setup or marine, The 60csx still has to be the best allround hand held GPS I have ever used and works very well as our main n...

We tried the Colorado again on the weekend with the compass turned off. All worked fine no problems with it getting lost at slow speed. I will try it using external power next time and see if the problem comes back.

Had a strange thing with our 300 on the weekend. We were out in the boat running blue charts, track up and compass on when we went slow, under 3 knots the map didn't turn track up in fact it didn't even turn north up. the GPS seemed to be a little lost. After reading some info on the net it seems th...

Garmin MapSource

Has anyone else down loaded the new version of mapsource and found it runs like a pig on the laptop. I have 1.7g laptop with 2g of ram and the maps look great but the redraw time is way slower than the old version.
