I left a bear TB in a Sydney cache. Then next day a scout group visited. They took the TB and made a log of "We kidnapped the bear." Well they certainly did, as it has never been heard from again. I did email them, but nothing.
Not a good idea letting school groups visit real Geocaches.

Re: So where/how do you draw the line re safety?
I cache both alone and with another cacher. Especially when I'm alone, I will not climb trees or other physical dangerous things, and particularity in remote places. Even with company there are few caches up a tree I am willing to risk my life for. I am willing to swim to islands and the like for ca...

Re: Powertrails
I would call it a power trail when the caches are close to each other, usually along the one road, path, etc. Twenty was a suggested number to call it a power trail. I would go along with that, although a trail with less caches I call a mini-power trail. I have called six caches close together along...

Re: Dubious Finds
I sent the emails for this latest cache log that have I checked, a couple of days ago. I was planning to give them a week to reply. The log belonging to another cache, where I found one person who didn't sign, I gave them almost three weeks to reply to two emails, but never had a reply. I deleted th...

Re: Dubious Finds
I have now checked another cache. I found NINE names that had logged, but there is no sign of their signatures on the log. I was very surprised by the high number; some of them reasonably well established cachers. I gave a couple the benefit of the doubt, but the others I send emails to, to ask them...

Re: Dubious Finds
I just made my first deletion of a dubious log on one of my caches. I feel bad about this , but I gave the person time to reply to two emails over about three weeks, but they ignored them and I never had a reply.
Now I plan to check my other caches.

"However, I don't know about you... but I have found my share of active virtuals and received no reply to my answers."
I recently logged a number in the USA. I send answers for all the virtuals to the owners, but never received a reply back from any of them.

Re: Dubious Finds
I am about to delete the first log I have done this to. I sent the person two emails, as I there is a chance they may have been one of a group of people to visit this cache, as the person said they visited with friends. There were several other signatures this day, but not for this person. Somehow, ...

Re: This may launch a cat among the pigeons
I like to log archived caches too, but ones with a physical presence. A cache and log still there. With virtuals, someone is meant to check your answers before it is logged, so if the owner is no longer doing this, how can it be rightly logged?

Re: Logging of archived geocaches
I have found several old caches still in place this year. GC4HPG2 GC4HHNQ GC16A9P I found this magnetic keyholder puzzle cache close to S 35° 17.480 E 149° 07.030. It's had several other finders too. I was also surprised to find a lot of old logs from several archived caches in the shearing shed at ...

Re: Logging of archived geocaches
Removing the cache is the way to stop people being able to log archived caches. If the owner doesn't remove it, then I think it is 'rich' of them to complain when someone does log it. They can't be bothered to remove the old cache and instead leave it there as litter, but they can be bothered to rem...

If I find it, I sign it.
