There was a time when all downloaded files were verboten, but that's relaxed a bit now and all data type files (MP3, txt, PDF, etc.) are now OK. Executables like Java applets, .EXE files, etc. are still off-limits, though. As far as podcaches go, the only requirement is that the MP3 tour doesn't rep...

Re: Diabolical caches

Last time i looked, most boomgates were within 46m of a railroad track. http://www.jaiper.net/smilies/groan.gif  Caches hidden in close proximity to active railroad tracks. In general we use a distance of 150 ft (46 m) but your local area's trespassing laws may be different. All local laws app...

When I lived in Adelaide considered placing one right out at the end of the breakwater leading into the Port Adelaide river. Luckily for others never found the right totally waterproof container and an attachment method that would have been storm proof. Would have been over 1km of rock hopping to g...

How accurate have you 6110 owners found the GPSr to be?

For cache-placing, is there any averaging going on, as far as you can see?

Does it use WGS84 by default?

There's this bit of the "off limits" section of the guidelines:
Caches that deface public or private property, whether a natural or man-made object, in order to provide a hiding place, a clue or a logging method.
Don't go screwing eyelets or pulleys into a tree unless you own it!

May your DNFs be few and your inbox full of "Loved this cache!" logs in 2008! I published over 4,300 caches in 2007, plus another couple of hundred published by i,riblit and embi, plus however many GCA caches were published, so there should be enough logbooks waiting for your signature! And I'm sure...

Re: The 160metre rule

The owner said it would be back up in a week, but its been well over 3 months. If it doesn't already have one, put a "needs archived" note on it. It's not a nasty thing to do and shouldn't cause any offence (I know it doesn't when I get them, it just embarrasses me that I've left a cache disabled f...

(Pontification alert!) I'm pretty strict on the saturation guideline. It's not just about the chance of confusing waypoints/caches. It's also about councils, park administrators, etc. seeing too many caches in their areas (which they equate with wild-eyed cachers with shovels and machetes seeking th...

I'm an Australian. I have an Australian accent. I see no reason to speak with an American accent just because there's at least ten times more people with an American accent than with ours. I'm a "kaysher", I find, place and publish "geokayshes." I see no need to call them "cashes" just because there...

I've published a few "other" sized caches lately, and seen a few more get changed from their original size to "other", just to score the extra points. They would all have been better described by one of the other size categories. This means that finders have no idea if they're looking for an ammo bo...

As McPhan said, the reviewers probably wouldn't publish it if you planned to leave it there and never visit again. I know this for a fact, since it's probably me who'd be reviewing it! The relevant document is the guidelines (that you need to read and agree to abide by to publish a gc.com cache), wh...

How many 20litre plus caches will appear on GC and GCA listings in the next few weeks? That's almost a pity, since I was planning to mention here that I'd seen more large caches in the last week than I had in the previous year. While it's still great to see them out there, it's a shame that it's no...
