Re: Groundspeak "listing-service exclusivity on Mega-Events"
My thoughts are that this is why I believe all that comparison to corporations such as holden coke and pepsi is nonsense. GCA is not a competitor to Groundspeak. As far as I know there is only one geocache listing service on this planet that is in it it to make money. So comparing any listing servic...

Re: Downloading cache info onto a Garmin GPS60
There is a limit to the number of waypoints your GPS can hold. When I download my caches. I clear the memory first. Doesn't always have to be the case for you as I am downloading about 500 at atime. We also had a few walk routes stored. We had to save these to the pc to give us more memory. This was...

Re: Full Logs
I am sorry to say that I am one of those very ignorant cachers that may take up a page when writing my log. I never knew things had got so bad. Please excuse me. I will attempt to change. However when ever you find one of our caches please be as verbose as you wish. We enjoy reading the logbooks and...

Re: Google Maps help please
At the moment I'm using Google Earth Pro to upload csv files with addresses. I then have them sorted in Google Earth Pro using different coloured icons. However, the problem I face is this: I am saving as a KML file, which is working fine in Google Earth, however when I upload this in Google Maps, I...

Google Maps help please
Hopefully some software guru can help me with Google Maps. I am currently plotting data in Google earth Pro. Groups of data are separated by different coloured icons. Not all recipients of the data have the Google Earth Pro I am trying to convert the data down to Google maps. I am currently creating...

Re: Where should the pen / pencil be placed??
We would advocate in. Doesn't matter about holes in the bag as it is not the primary or secondry seal against wetness. (In our caches) Log book pencil and sharpener were all placed in a little baggy so you could find them with ease and not having to rummage around the vast space of a large ammo-can....

Re: Geocacher banned on unfair terms (IMO anyway)
A quote from a Groundspeak Lackey In the coming days we will announce a change to the Terms of Use, Section 4 paragraph (m) which states: Quote You agree not to: (m) Publish, on any Groundspeak owned web property , the solutions, hints, spoilers, or any hidden coordinates for any geocache without co...

Re: Geocacher banned on unfair terms (IMO anyway)
I think it may be that Groundspeak is attempting to protect a cache owners "rights" and we complain they don't protect a cache owners "rights". However I have never seen a benevolence in Groundspeak(That is in the last 6 years). My impression is that they will do things that benefit them. I must adm...

Re: Geocacher banned on unfair terms (IMO anyway)
I was never asked in advance by Groundspeak whether I wanted the co-ordinates to my caches given freely to anyone downloading an app onto their phone(No membership required). This included Premium members caches. You really were though, we all agree to the TOU bfore we can get our caching login. In...

Re: Geocacher banned on unfair terms (IMO anyway)
I voted no. Mainly on a principal. I don't think that Groundspeak should go any where near this and they have made a mistake. The history of that clause is also suss. As has been pointed out the cacher in question has been putting up videos for months. The clause has only been in effect a short time...

Re: Cache difficulty/terrain ratings
. However if I put a cache that can be got to by 4WD i will rate it as a 5. If after reading the page you decide to bounce your partners car up the track and walk 10k thats your choice. That doesn't change the rating. ??? Maybe the problem we have is our paradigms. When I wrote that the intention w...
