Re: Crooked forest
Inevitably that reminds me of this - Three times in my life, in totally different places, I have come across a tree that has a 360° turn in the trunk. ie. at a height of 1-2 metres, the trunk does a complete turn. I still have the photo of the one in the Grampians in Victoria and happened to look at...

Re: look who is #1 now...
.
Well, that IS an amazing effort! According to me they found near 1,600 caches in a month! It would take me that long to log them, let alone find them....
Obsessed? Only a lot! LOL
Well done Liz and Bruce.

Re: Voting at GC Forum -- Counting Challenges as Finds
And the cache counts are back too. And the avatars work again. It's almost back the way it was originally plus avatars. Yay!! Thank goodness! And I don't even mind the Avatars now that they are smaller. Makes it easier to find a particular cacher's logs. But this whole exercise makes it pretty clea...

Re: Voting at GC Forum -- Counting Challenges as Finds
I've completed 4 challenges & they show up on my profile under Geocaches found (All geocache finds) giving a total of 1208. So if we met today somewhere & a question was asked in respect of Groundspeak caches, I'd say I've found 1208 & not make a distinction. Perhaps a change is on the books to str...

Re: Voting at GC Forum -- Counting Challenges as Finds
. Just added my three votes. Challenges are different to caches and should not be added to them. Thank you to those who pointed out that the forum was there. http://feedback.geocaching.com/forums/75775-geocaching-com/suggestions/2170499-don-t-make-completions-the-same-as-finds-?utm_campaign=Widgets&...

Re: Return of virtuals on GC, well sot of
I fully support the return of some sort of virtual so that one can log a cache where otherwise it would be impossible (eg. at an historic site) but these are just rubbish as far as I am concerned, and the claims to date just show it!

Re: Oh, I want this implemented on all cache listing sites NOW!
I am in the camp that says it is OK to point out obvious errors, as long as it is done privately and tactfully. I am always happy when someone points out one of mine this way, and have done so for others. There are of course those for whom a good command of the language is difficult for various reas...

Re: Geocaching without a GPS, is it possible?
I ticked yes although it is not necessarily easy. Two examples from me - 1. Years ago I went to a Shepparton event, and my GPS played up. I tried a several-point mullti, and was able to work out from each new coordinate, the approximate direction and distance each next point was, and ultimately, was...

Thank you for the advice. We look forward to visiting your lovely country for those Mega Events with great anticipation. Hopefully Christchurch will be restored to its former beauty before too long too.

Re: What to do with my old cache?
I am one that loves it when the REALLY old caches are kept in play. As far as I can see the best way for that to happen with this one is to change it to a smaller size. Changing it to a Virtual may be an option although I wonder if that should be used only for the rare cases such as maybe for GC8E s...

Multiple Logs on Caches
On a related topic I raised the issue of being able to log the same cache multiple times. That topic became a discussion on Challenge caches, so I have re-raised it here. The instance quoted is a cache where, once you have found it, you can log it as a find, once for every State (in the US) for whic...

Re: The Future of Caching?
There are three Challenge caches in Wollongong which require you to have found every cache within 5, 10, and 20 km of your home. A bit hard for those who live in big cities! However, challenge caches was not at all the point of my original post, so I will open up another post to make my point better...

The Future of Caching?
I have noticed that an essentially new form of cache is occurring, particularly in the USA, but there are some here. These are "Challenge" caches, where you find a cache, but to be able to log it, you have to have done something cache related. For instance, find 10 Earthcaches, or find all the cache...

Re: Ballarat or Bendigo
I am thinking of going for a weekend (1 night) to either Ballarat or Bendigo, but I cannot choose in a few weeks time. I have some questions that I would like to be answered with facts, not opinion. Remember, I am purely going to cache, not do any tourist stuff etc. Thanks I SO wish that I had seen...
