Hi John, Welcome to caching. I'm from your area. Here are a few local caches that I found when I was a newby and didn't have too much trouble with. http://geocaching.com.au/cache/ga1973 (A nice walk once you find a place to park) http://coord.info/GCMTTQ (If you can find a time without too many peop...

Re: Android Geocaching Apps
I've settled on Locus for my smartphone caching. I used to use it happily without data. Re: GCA Android App - GA Cacher
For me static maps are a nice but I'm not too worried. Just have to remember they don't work while I'm out and about.

Re: GCA Android App - GA Cacher
I'm with Telstra as well.
This sounds like it could explain why I got a message from GA forums the other day saying I'd been banned for spamming as well.

The history button gives you a list of recent logs. Just long press on the cache and you can open for details and logging. Works great.

Re: Small pens
I recently got a Fisher Space pen which is small and great for writing on wet logs but it has quite a fat nib so makes it hard for nanos. I carry a couple of fine point pens in the car that are better for these.
