Re: History Cache
I do fear that slippery slope petan, but hopefully the need for my family to be fed will be enough distraction to keep me away from the HARD research for a few years yet. Still a wage slave too... history research has just taken over my 'need' to spend my evenings on Facebook or watching tra...

Re: History Cache
This getting ready for history caches has taken me down a rabbit hole. My LGA has a fabulous wiki of local historical information but when I couldn't find something I was after, the Community History Librarian says "come edit the wiki with us". Yes, geocaching really does take you to some unusual p...

No, its a good idea to be able to isolate State specific locationless. Perhaps the use of Public Tags might also work.LouiseAnn wrote:no one must have liked my idea/comment/thought/suggestion......

Re: What can Geocaching Australia do for you in 2016?
Is there a way of locking people out of logging a history cache so they can only log it with a code hidden on site? I know that means you can't DNF or NA or the like, but can they just email for these? It would at least save the CO having to confirm it. That could be done. The mechanism for using a...

Re: What can Geocaching Australia do for you in 2016?
Keeping the cache owner from needing to confirm a historical cache has been found is a good one, especially when the cache owner no longer caches or can't answer emails for what ever reason. Although having said that, the owner still needs to be involved - things change, information signs disappear...

Re: What can Geocaching Australia do for you in 2016?
Yes, they can cheat by trying to brute force the answers, but if there are 5 questions and 4 possible answers this would be annoying to have to guess every answer to. Whether the response is "You have 3 of 5 answers correct" or "The answer to Question 2 and 5 are not correct" is up for debate. This...

Re: NEWBIES, scared, need help (Getting back into geocaching)
While you say you don't entirely trust the GPS on your phone its probably worth downloading a Geocaching App for it even if its simply to get access to logs (both older and more recent to your pocket query), for easier reading of descriptions, or navigating by road or designated path to roughly wher...

Re: What can Geocaching Australia do for you in 2016?
Ditto to what the Monkey King said. I also commented on this on Facebook. With 25 GC.com and two GCA 'traditional' (meaning physical containers) historical themed caches am quite excited at the prospect of a new cache type along this theme. There are places I would love to place a cache but don't be...

Re: GeGnome ][ Electric Boogaloo
Problem fixed: The finder got back to me realising that she hadn't logged the correct gnome so has deleted her log. Therefor Graeme is back in his original location.
Damn.... I missed out on a gnome hunt!

Re: GeGnome ][ Electric Boogaloo
This is going to sound strange coming from a Queenslander but I think there is a problem with a gnome hiding at Melbourne uni. I took a Queensland gnome to an event last weekend. At that event a 'new' gnome Graeme (GA8019) was logged as found and the finder added the co-ordinates of the event to the...

Re: GeGnome ][ Electric Boogaloo
I've seen some naughty gnomes before but today I found one that was positively pornographic. X's over specific bits to prevent blushes. But underneath was revealing enough. No I did not purchase one. Would not know where to insert the bison. http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j256/ankarli/IMG_4750.jpg

Re: Report GCA Site issues here
I must apologise to the community, I have been intolerably slow with the new server. Without going in to gory details, work and family and putting or house on the market (and al that involves) have consumed a huge chunk of this year, and finding time has been a challenge. I'm working on it as we sp...

Re: Emergency+ app
Thanks for the heads up, sushilord. The app is now on my phone. A sort of related question. What does it mean when my iphone says "SOS only" when I am out of normal phone range? I like to think it means I can send an SOS somehow, but I have no idea how. SOS just means that if you are out of mobile ...
