You can only claim caches you found in the last 7 days.
Technically that's impossible for the marathon, as we can't claim it until its finished, and the claim will include caches found up to 16 days earlier. :?:

Re: GeosportZ 2012 - Questions and Clarifications

So, just to clarify. Over the 16 days of the "marathon", we log each find on GC or GCA as we find it (as usual). Then, at the end of the 16-day streak, if we managed to find a cache on every day, we are eligible to claim the "marathon" event. However, if the cache we found that had the highest point...

Re: GeosportZ 2012 - Questions and Clarifications

Y'all need to be wary of the marathon and the 7 day rule too. Hmmm. The rules say "Geocaches you claim for the game must be logged at CachingGames.com within 7 days of your find date on the original listing site or prior to the end of the game, whichever occurs first." Does that mean that the cache...

Re: How long is too long ??

If you have the physical coin in your hot little hands, my suggestion is: 1) grab it from wherever/whoever has it. 2) pass it through the cache you found it in with a "Write note" and "Visited" so that it gets the kms and the record that it was there. 3) drop it into a cache of your pleasing. It is...

Re: GeosportZ 2012 - Questions and Clarifications

My closest to home by posted coordinates was a puzzle cache. The yesterday somone published a new cache even closer to home (both posted coords and GZ). Fortunately it is also a mystery/micro so it hasnt messed up my strategy, but I think I'd better go find it before someone else gazumps me! Check ...

Re: Just saying G'day

Hi Mulga Bill, and welcome to geocaching. It's great to have a new hider close to me in the north-west of Melbourne. Your caches have certainly been worth finding, so thank you!

Hope to see you at an event or two soon.

Peter (pwags).

Re: Rubbish around GZ

Hi Mulga Bill, Having found the cache you refer to, I am not surprised that rubbish is appearing there... it seems to be an ideal "parking" place, not far from the end of a deserted road. But I would imagine that the airport people would often clean up that stretch of road, so any dumped rubbish wou...

Re: Geosportz

There may nor may not be a hide style requirement this time. With so many caches out there, hiding one for a game (unlike moving caches) seems a little wrong nowadays. Mind you, mine are still there from Geosportz http://geocaching.com.au/cache/gc1ggqx and from RDMH http://geocaching.com.au/cache/g...

Re: Geosportz

One concern springs to mind re the only logging caches you're not previously found rule. Doesn't that kind of put caching veterans at a disadvantage, against those with fewer finds and therefore more options open to them? I'm not sure that I'm not sure their prior knowledge (if you can remember eve...

Or you could just hide a new cache in your front yard - anyone casing the joint would see a constant stream of people and assume you are home.

Nice!

Will there also be a leapfrog icon that appears on our profile page, similar to the GeGnome icon? Virtual bling is fun, too! :)

Re: Geosportz

Judging from last time, many of the activities involve the option to hide a cache. There should definitely be extra points for GCA hides, which would solve the problem for those who live in locations without many GCA caches. \:D/ Sounds like a fun exercise, hope I will have time to participate ! On...

Re: Geosportz

I'm not so sure about different weighting for GC/GCA caches, only because that may disadvantage cachers in areas where there a fewer GCA caches and give an unfair advantage to those in areas flush with GCAs. But then, that might be a personal bias because I'm one of those who lives in an area with ...
