Correction - that is in fact dd mm.mmm - they are decimal minutes (mm.mmm). No seconds are harmed in the production of geocaching coordinates

You should be able to use GDAL to transform coords from a massive variety of options. Good open source GIS goodness - all you need to know is the EPSG codes

This would also be scaleable to support other projection/coordinate systems. More importantly, no math skills required!

It looks like you can download as much as you want - the bigger issue is that all downloaded images are likely to be encrypted so that they can only be used on the unit with the serial number that purchased the subscription.
