Re: Trouble with new eTrex Vista HCx-please help a newbie

Hi.
If the map on your microSD card is a commercial Garmin map, I'd contact Garmin or the retailer.
If not, I'd recommend to transfer the map from PC with Mapsource or Basecamp?
Cheers. :)

Re: How to: Projections

It may be a bit of a fine point, but I'd call this "projected coordinates" or "projected position" to avoid any confusion with "projection", which refers to the way a map represents the Earth on a flat surface.
Cheers. :)

Re: Not doing GCA Caches (split from other thread)

I discovered geocaching on GC.com via the Garmin website, and started looking for and finding GC.com caches in my area and watching (with noob excitement) my GC find-count grow. This geocaching routine was set fairly early on by some very well-thought and executed GC caches. The question of why do I...

Re: Minimalist Cache Logs -- Opinions Wanted

I don't think my argument is a bad one, but is there a reg. ? What seems illogical to someone may seem logical to someone else. Can I use your argument to delete logs that include this offensive letter? Sounds reasonable, if you are truly offended by the letter. Otherwise no, it would be just workin...

Re: Minimalist Cache Logs -- Opinions Wanted

Is their a GS rule, regulation, or guideline about offensive cache logs?
Blank and similarly meaningless logs are offensive IMO.

Re: Newbie thread: Which Garmin handheld GPS to buy?

From the new eTrex release notes: "... The new eTrex series supports geocaching GPX files for downloading geocache locations and details straight to the unit using its high-speed USB connection. ..."

I assume (I know) that will apply to all the new eTrex. :)

Re: Newbie

Hi Rhiannon. Which geocache did you find? If the cache code starts with GC (like GCXXXX), you'll need to join as a member at http://www.geocaching.com to log your find on the USA website. If the cache code starts with GA (like GAXXXX), you'll need to join as a member at :gnome http://geocaching.com....

Re: Australian Height Datum - levelling survey?

I'd guess it would've taken many months to compile the data, and the correction implemented on 5th May '71?
Why not shoot an email to the horse's mouth (possibly at http://www.icsm.gov.au/ )? :)

My brother showed me his Garmin 12 one day and said "How do you work this?" I stumbled into the Geocaching a couple days later. :|

Re: Assistance with GPS cache upload/download software

GSAK.
Set up the PQs (Pocket Query/ies) feature on one or more cache lising sites.
Drag the resulting .ZIP file/s straight to a GSAK database. :)
