Re: aussie precalibrated Garmin Custom Map library
snip However in looking for these items I have also come across a neat feature of being able to use custom maps. (I would love to be able to walk around Sydney with a 'ye olde map' of how it used to be) I believe they can be created and shared as an KMZ file. I really like the look of the map in th...

Re: Garmin Custom Maps
Reminds me, I am off to Vic next weekend so better update the shonkymaps coverage in the 60CSx. But it would be nice to be able to put streetmaps from other sources in there with a conversion utility. Will have to have a play. Hi - the "custom maps" referred to in this thread only work with Oregon,...

Re: Garmin Australian Topo V Garmin City Navigator NT
So.. if you had an Oregon 400t and added Blue charts as a layer, you would have a complete and well detailed map source of land and water. If im understanding this correctly? Well, you will have access to the Topo map and the Blue Chart map if thats what you mean...but you wont be able to view both...

Re: Garmin Australian Topo V Garmin City Navigator NT
You can use several maps at once as it layers them yep. I can use my Oregon 550 running City Nav NT 2010, Topo V2, OzTopo, ShonkyMaps, & Bluechart all running at once. Keep in mind that some maps will over ride others - doubt if you can see all the detail from all the maps at once (in fact Im sure ...

Re: Newbie thread: Which Magellan handheld GPS to buy?
snip The Magellan does a few things better than the garmin 1: It averages when finding a waypoint. If you are trying to find a cache you just wait and slowly wander towards the cache. It may take 5 minutes to get it fully accurate but it get there and its perfect. ? What if the person who placed th...

Re: Hema Navigator
Not sure it will work on the Hema Navigator. I have used the gsak/OziCe macro on my Magellan MobileMapper 6 - works fine..but that has mobile version of internet explorer - required to view the cache descriptions in html. I dont think the HN has a html viewing program so there will be no way to open...

Re: Contours Australia 5m
snip I don't have the link any more sorry. SRTM (V2.1) http://dds.cr.usgs.gov/srtm/version2_1/SRTM3/Australia/ ASTER GDEM http://www.gdem.aster.ersdac.or.jp/ You have to register and then do a search - files are, as mentioned, geotiffs - they have to be converted for use with OziExplorer..not sure ...

Beta firmware for Oregon no longer appears to be available from the website? However, using Garmin webupdater will give you the option to update to the "official" Firmware Version 3.10. Dont be scared. Cheers Greg Well there you go - when I checked on the 30th there was no beta firmware - now there...

Re: GPS unlocking question.
Hello, I have Mio 720 and have "unlocked" it for the main purpose of running OziExplorerCE. Unlocking simply requires copying some programs to an sd card and starting unit. If you remove the SD card the unit returns to "normal". You have two options - Miopocket or Miopocket lite. I use the lite vers...
