Re: Oregon Question
Has anyone else with an Oregon had an issue with boot time since the last update? Every time I boot my Oregon it now seems to take forever to load the .gpx file. Hopefully it isn't just me, but equally hopefully someone knows a solution! I find the first time it starts up after replacing the geocac...

Re: GSAK V8 Beta
It is now out of beta... Can someone tell me how to add a cache using the API? (not just from a radius around a point) ie. I go and find a cache - I have its GC code - I then want to add it to the database Its probably quite obvious but I can't seam to work it out... The quickest way for a s...

Re: Long gone mods on this site
embi is the original owner of the GCA forums. i! was instrumental in setting the site up as it is now. The original Forum was actually set up by Pyrenees Kid. When his hosting arrangements fell through, i! stepped up and offered to host it. PK remained involved for a while after that. Cache listing...

you are delayed in Boston because your flight was cancelled owing to the potential threat from Hurricane Irene, and you think you now have a chance to do more Boston caches.

Re: look who is #1 now...
Congratulations to Liz and Bruce on a mammoth effort in recent weeks. We knew what lay ahead after chatting to you and Skippy at the GeoBash. Our current Tour is nearing the end; we then have a couple of weeks in Dayton with Slider & Smurf and the grandchildren before heading homeward. See you when ...

... I'm am guessing they are using the AEC web site for this ?? I'm pretty sure that the "check my enrolement" fucntionality of AEC.gov.au website isn't designed to be used for this. The "Check my electoral enrolment" feature of the aec web site requires your name and address as input, which means ...

Re: How many hides is too many?
We've hidden 133 caches over the years, of which around 90 remain. Cache maintenance wasn't uppermost in our minds when we began hiding, but has progressively assumed greater importance. Although circumstances vary, we try to conduct maintenance when recent logs indicate a problem. Naturally, our mo...

Re: Oregon 450 - current track
When I dock the Oregon, the track appears in base-camp but I can't see a GPX file via the menu system An easy way is to select the current track in the Oregon's Track Manager, then Save Track. Change the default file name (normally based on the current date) if you wish, then select the green tick ...

Re: What model GPS should we upgrade to?
I do not think (and please correct me Garmin owners if I am not right) that the Oregon comes with detailed maps - just a World Base Map , so although the Oregon is still useable straight away for caching, it does not have the same detailed maps as you would get in the eXplorist units and so there i...

Re: What model GPS should we upgrade to?
The Oregon 450 is great, especially with the new firmware that adds the 'Next Stage' feature for multis. The newest Magellans are apparently very good too.

Re: Drive from Melbourne to Adelaide and back.
... Anyone know of any other caches that can be found on an Adelaide/Melbourne drive, either via the Western Hwy (via Ballarat) or the Hamilton Hwy (via Hamilton), or any good caches on that route that are worth grabbing, or even diverting for? "A River Somewhere" GC53F9 is the reverse equivalent o...
