First two dog108 caches archived without much of a look at them.
Let him delete the rest of the bogus logs and then we'll think about even bothering to examine them.

Re: Cacher dies in USA

Very sad news indeed and not a topic we would like to see again.
The only thing that this changes the way I geocache is what safety equipment should I carry when doing any caches above a 3.5.
There are some interesting stories on the US site and I never gave a thought about carrying some rop...

Re: Puzzle Ideas

I'd easily reckon Winterdragon would let you borrow "Home Improvements", Z would let you borrow "The Daedalus Portal" and the Stanleys "Paper Planes" as some neat ideas for having to cut and fold paper to find answers. Logic Mazes are also a fun option - just need straw bales or star pickets to cre...

Re: Bogus Logs (dog108 is logging caches without finding them)

Here's my latest reply from GS.. Dear Mr ******, We thank you for your email, and understand that logging bogus finds can be extremely annoying to earnest geocachers, particularly in a growing community like Australia. I have looked at this user's profile page and note that dog108 has made 51 cache ...

Re: Bogus Logs (dog108 is logging caches without finding them)

Here's the reply back from Groundspeak: "Hi, I understand you frustration but it is the responsibility of the cache owner to remove any logs that they do not believe are valid. Please feel free to contact the cache owner and let them know, in a friendly way, what is going on. I am sure they would ap...

Down to 66 after a few emails.
Also got a reply from Groundspeak so my email is into their system with a medium priority.
See what happens.

Re: Bogus Logs (dog108 is logging caches without finding them)

OK, just sent a pile of pm's out to local geocachers I know, asking for them to check and delete their logs from dog108. Lets see if we can get them below 50 by the end of the week? :)

Re: Bee Warned

During my MadMay I'd say that half my 31 placements ended up near bees. Problem was, I was placing at night when bees were asleep and all the finders were locating them. Out of interest I made a posting on the GC forum about whether it would be possible to have a bee attribute and basically just got...

Re: Bogus Logs

So I guess there is nothing to stop us telling the geocachers we know who have logs against them to delete all the logs posted by dog108?

Yeah, pretty lame. Took all of 1 minute to delete the bogus logs.
Now to find out how to close the account down, any ideas?

Re: Team cards cuasing a problem.

I like most others find them to be a pain. Generally no use to me all, and just clutter that gets in the way. However I do have nice story about one card. Freddo from Adelaide was caching in Auckland and having a lot of trouble with a certain Lizard cache under a freeway. I recalled that there had ...

Re: This could be an interesting caching challenge.

This would be great for National Park caches. It could be hiden outside the park but only opened at the spot inside the park you want people to get to. =D> ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT IDEA! And it's not a moving cache because it can be set to have a home it must return to to reset? Q 2 UMP: If this box wa...

Re: This could be an interesting caching challenge.

Hmmm, considering there's going to be a micro CPU behind this I'd go for a multi-location and "open" at certain time combination. Adding those features will only add programming, not building complexity. When you get to each waypoint at the correct time it goes to the next stage. There's a running c...

Re: Geocaching Creed

Although it covers many useful concepts I feel that the people who run the parks probably want something a bit more specific. It's all very well talking about minimising geotrails but I think we actually need a plan on how to prevent them. In SA it appears the parks people will cover underused/accid...

Re: Where do you see geocaching in the next 10 years?

Based on everything I know about predicting the future, it will be more similar than it is different. So in general, the change over the last 5 years (which has been very little) will be typical of the future. However a big issue will become one of suitable sites that are not "taken". I can imagine ...
