Re: Wanted: MSP430 programmer

Hope it's not a reverse cache! :D :D :D Why not? \:D/ I came back to this thread to ask if anyone wants to form a group making the reverse cache boxes. (Starts eyeing off the Rabbit uController sitting under the desk...not that I'd use a Rabbit , too $$$) For those who haven't seen this.. http://ar...

Re: Waterproof Sistema? Doesn't look likely

I'm actually against zip lock bags in caches. Although they can possibly stop a log book from getting wet in the first place, if condensation creeps in, there is no way for it to be able to dry out again as the bag holds it all in! Hmmm, I'm thinking Mythbuster time. Someone want to test this? Get ...

Re: Does size really matter?

If I see "micro", I just assume that it's very small, and I'd really hate to validate nano hides with their own category! Unfortunately it's gonna happen apparently  http://feedback.geocaching.com/forums/75775-geocaching-com/suggestions/1051741-make-a-nano-cache-size-option?ref=title AGGGHHHH...

Re: Garmin Chirp

Uh....Skippy, you haven't logged two of them. Congrats though, what a wowzer of a cache series to find! My only problem is I only have an Oregon 200, just below the lowest required to use this chirp.....But I am still sooo temped to get one. But how would I use it? You can't ...and that's the probl...

Re: Shenanigans...

I'm not quite sure how it will end up. I remember years ago people commenting that sooner or later all the "good spots" would be taken and newbies wanting to place something would have to settle for less exciting places. If I go to gc and do a search on caches in California, it returns 84,771 recor...

Yep, went to buy one and I can't ... ](*,)
so, now I'll just wait for someone to reverse engineer it, say about a week, and then build one? :-"

Re: Garmin Chirp

The good folk at Groundspeak have been caught out by this announcement, as Garmin never said a word about it to them! (And how dumb is that? It could've been launched with a new attribute or cache type and taken off immediately. And I thought they were BFF!) It's quite a head scratcher. Given it's ...

Re: Garmin Chirp

That is very cool, it will be a while before I can use it though. The Oregon 300 we have only has about 2500 finds on it and I won't be reinvesting another $1000 in a hurry just yet... It would appear Oregon 300 supports this feature. I noticed it in the latest software upload. In the settings menu...

Re: Archived because of danger (or not)

I am in no doubt this cache should be archived. I have attempted many caches that are more difficult than this cache, but this is not the issue here. This cache is located near a cliff and while I am thankful the cache page has been updated, a warning *** D o not attempt this cache alone - in sprin...

Re: Underwater Cache - Any Ideas?

Did the PVC pipe fill with water leaving only the drink bottle to keep the log dry or did it all stay dry? PVC stayed dry inside, that was the design. The sports drink container was a backup. Oh, one other thing, test the whole assembly in a river /rainwater tank/bath before putting out in the field.

Re: Underwater Cache - Any Ideas?

Rather than using ink/pencil/whatever use a stack of very thin aluminum tags and a hard plastic stylus if you are concerned about water. As for container I have done one. 100mm PVC water pipe with sealed end 2/3rds filled with rock and concrete to make overall buoyancy negative. (Or use lead if you ...

Re: Guidelines for moving around cliff areas

As someone who puts out a few terrain 5+ rating caches and gets nervous every time the rescue helicopter flies over my house and towards the local parks where some of these caches are placed here's a few other notes with relevance to Geocaching in particular. GPS: The top of a cliff is no place to b...

Only ever found 7 in a row, but I hid 76 unknown's in a row, does that count? ...Before switching over to aiming to get well-rounded-hider. Only a few to go. :P (which for Adelaide is sort of unfortunate because a few are terrain 5) However there could be a record number of unknown finds c...
