Re: Online Record Attempt Here - 27 Sep 2017

Had an atomic clock running as time on lappy incorrect by about 32 seconds. I'm here for the duration, albeit a bit early. Doesn't show I'm on-line but am.

Re: Cache update emails

I like the idea of the links. I rip through the upcoming events now as they repeat day after day so being able to ignore the latter & just check new ones would be ideal.

Re: Garmin 600T - Unable to load geocaches

Had another go this morning. Initially using the USB connection on the LHS which connected the device to the power supply only. Then swapped over to the RHS & showed connected but GSAK wouldn't load caches saying device was not connected. Fiddled around with the setup on GSAK sending caches to other...

Re: Garmin 600T - Unable to load geocaches

I did some research & found mention of the USB registry. I can download a program - Clean Windows Registry of USB Devices - which cleans everything not plugged in. I'd leave the Printer connected as I'd be in trouble if I lost it. Cameras should be OK. Nuvi not so sure. Would this Clean Windows prog...

Re: Garmin 600T - Unable to load geocaches

Thanks for the reply - I think I'll go for the "I just leave it and it solves itself" option. It will no longer connect to the USB power source now & I couldn't turn it off so removed the batteries, reinstalled & it turned on OK but no advance on loading the caches, viewing the waypoints. I really m...

Garmin 600T - Unable to load geocaches

I recently purchased the above & until today had no problems loading geocaches via GSAK. When I plugged it in to the USB port I'd immediately get a Garmin symbol & could then load the caches. What I didn't get was a simple power connection that would allow me to view geocaches & more importantly, wa...

Re: Anybody seen such a trig before?

It's a prop from Star Wars. I can't recall which episode but you can see an observer in the foreground standing in it. I liked the first three (1977 onwards) so probably one of those.

Re: Your First Cache

I joined in Dec. 2005 but didn't look for a cache until 5 months later. It was a medium traditional close to home, my Garmin 72 got me close & the hint got me there. In writing up the find I said the hint proved very helpful. I felt reasonably pleased with myself. Prefer Waymarking now. Much easier ...

Re: Newbie thread: Which GPS brand to buy - Garmin or Magellan?

I just had a look at the specs for a 401 & it's not geocache friendly. It is aimed at hikers, skiers, campers and military personnel. The Magellan is geocache friendly. Here is the GC manual from the Magellan site: http://support.magellangps.com/support/index.php?_m=downloads&_a=viewdownload&downloa...

Re: New Program - GSAK (Geocaching Swiss Army Knife)

I had a look as have had similar problems in the past & a week ago the macro stopped working all together - no error messages just had enough. I changed my PQs to limited States & updated GSAK manually on my newer Win 7 laptop (never10). Thought I'd run it again on the old laptop so could relate whe...

Re: Question - GPS - car vs handheld vs phone app

Initially I used a Garmin 255W in conjunction with a Garmin 60CSx. I loaded geocaches as POI to the 255W using a program written by Pilotsnipes. The 255W would get me close then I use the 60SCx. I then decided this was a bit clunky so purchased a Magellan 710 which does everything - in car navigatio...
