Re: Garmin Oregon 650

Hard to say, but there may be a small improvement. It still switches to GPS compass mode at around 3 km/h, and I saw the needle snap around by up to 90 degrees off course a couple of times while walking, and snap back again when still. First impression is that it does this less than before.

Re: Garmin Oregon 650

Will try it out today. Not convinced it will help, though. I think the problem lies with the GPS compass at low (walking pace) speeds. The 3-axis compass works fine when you are standing still (and the Oregon knows you're standing still). It switches over to GPS compass mode almost as soon as you st...

Re: Garmin Oregon 650

it's the suction cup mount with the slide in clip...it was part of the navigation kit ...you can get them cheaper on eBay of course... If you want to use the slide-in clip with a RAM mount, take it off the Garmin suction cup and use one of these adapters ... http://www.rammount.com/CatalogResults/P...

Re: Taming new Garmin Montana

The main point is that the pre-loaded maps are in the garmin folder on the GPSr itself. To add other maps without interfering with the pre-loaded ones, put them the Garmin folder on a card. The img file(s) can have any name you like to describe the map - they don't have to be "gmapsupp".

Re: Garmin Oregon 600 Geocaching Profile Turned Blue (Marine)

Go into setup and then, near the bottom of that menu (scroll the icons) until you find "Profiles". Go into that and select "Geocaching" then "Use". That should fix it all. If not, what do you see when you reselect the Geocaching profile? Also, what reset method did you use?

Re: Garmin Oregon 650

Been using our 650 for a few days too, and am very happy with it. In anticipation of our forthcoming US/Canada trip, I have about 17,000 caches loaded. Haven't had any trouble with cache loading times. The cache index appears in about a second, descriptions and past logs take less than a second to l...

Re: Garmin Oregon 650

We're also about to head off to the US, and have loaded about 20,000 caches (so far) in anticipation. . How are you able to do that? I was under the impression it was limited to 4,000 waypoints unless using Opencaching - Garmin Support Andrew Sorry, can't read your link. Yes, the 600 series have a ...

Re: Can you plot a database on GSAK onto a map?

If you use Oziexplorer, GSAK has a built-in Ozi waypoint (cache) export.
