Re: Your hiding style

I don't do micros ... I just can't. I think they are for people who don't have any imagination and are - well - let's call them simple.

Other than that I'm also placing pretty much the same stuff as 10 years ago and cachers still like it :D

Re: Top Caches in the world

I see The Black Mesa Airdrop has maintained its 100% fav rating too, and it's now 10 months old. That's a bit ridiculous   Back on topic: A lot of the US / DE caches with high fav-points are kind of a self-fulfilling prophecy. If they get above a certain threshold, they show up on...

The Black Mesa Invasion - I'd say among the 100 caches I've placed it's one of the best.

Re: Should this be a valid find ? (GC)

You got the find, so if the CO won't let you log it online just log it in GSAK as found and ignore it on GC.com. Well the rules are with covert: He signed the log so he can log it online. If he wants to keep his statistic on GC.com clean it's his bragging right. From a social point of view it would...

Re: Should this be a valid find ? (GC)

When I saw the listing I already wondered if some found-it logs have been deleted. Obviously that's the case and I call that a bad style by the owner. If they stuffed up and clicked the activae listing button: bad luck. If Ministro oversaw a reviewer-note: still bad luck. It's just a game and things...

Total Distance: Bao-Bao by Zhaomin from the UK moved a total of 34,406.11km* GONNA GOZZA by covert from Victoria moved a total of 32,733.70km * As Zhaomin won both the longest distance and total distance but you only get one prize overall, Zhaomin will be awarded a prize, as will both the runners u...

Re: What makes a good one?

Yeah, I've read the guidelines Well there is your answer: "When you go to hide a geocache, think of the reason you are bringing people to that spot. If the only reason is for the geocache, then find a better spot." http://www.geocaching.com/about/guidelines.aspx Geocaching is just like real estate ...

Re: Iphone Geocaching vs Hand Held GPS

Your GPS will never be meter perfect with the current technology, 5m is about as close you'll realistically get. A lot of cachers forget that the coords are just as good as the cache owner measures GZ. If he is off by 5m and you are off by 5m you could look 10m away from the cache and nobody did so...

Re: Iphone Geocaching vs Hand Held GPS

There isn't much advantage in terms of accuracy if you look at a "real" unit in comparison to an iPhone 4. If you put down the phone/GPS close to GZ it will eventually settle and give you a better idea. But don't expect anything better than 5m - that's just how good GPS is. If your happy with the fu...

Re: Leap Frog registrations are now open

Stupid question and I am sure it has been asked before: Where can I find a map of the past movements of a frog? Something like the trackables on gc.com: http://www.geocaching.com/track/map_gm.aspx?ID=2722834

Thanks

Re: Ever shrinking cache containers

Cache size is a sad situation. http://geocaching.com.au/stats/graphs/all/au/0169_hides_by_size_percent 75% of caches hidden nowadays are small or micro. Maybe we need "Hide an Ammo Can" day / month? Yes, not a bad concept for some future project. But not ammo cans necessarily, just 1 litre ca...

Free Garmin Maps - South America?

Hi there I'm giving away my old Oregon 300 as a xmas present for a friend who's travelling South America for 2 months. Does anybody know where I can get free maps, which I can load onto it? I already got an OSM build taken from here: http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/OSM_Map_On_Garmin/Download Than...

Re: Froggie Travel Agent

I know - that trip can bring every frog making it along VERY close to the finish line. And this is why the frogs have to come to me otherwise it would be way too easy
