Re: Garmin Asus A50 - Software
The Vodafone SIM wouldn't work because the phone is locked to Optus. $80 to break free if you need to use another network. Sounds like you got stooged, I don't know of anyone who got a locked one from dick smith. I know mines not, and everyone who has tested it (from the reports I've read on whirlp...

Mud maps?
This looks like it could be an interesting program if it lives up to this report in the always classy courier mail http://www.couriermail.com.au/lifestyle/motoring/free-app-for-ipad-and-iphone-allows-users-to-pinpoint-their-position-even-without-coverage/story-e6frer6x-1225952872331 Now I don't own ...

Re: Tell happy/funny stories here!
I'm not sure how to link to a specific log so I shall just copy my DNF log from "aaarrgh! ye' dumbo is orange!" on the 28th December 2009 Couldn't find this one. Found a vicious attack frog which for a while we thought was guarding the cache. I saw something but couldn't reach it so Mrs. Cantanga (w...

Re: Batteries
Thanks everyone. It seems that even after 3-4 years since the last battey thread that the eneloops are still the favourites so I might get some of them and give them a go.

Batteries
I'm off to buy some rechargable batteries specifically for use in my GPS (triton 1500 and occasionally extrex H). Im after something that on long hikes with continual running I won't have to change every hour like I have to currently. What should I be looking for? is there a brand or type to steer c...

Re: Is it time? ( to allow cache owners to edit logs)
This 'could' end up in log tag. i.e. disabled, enabled, disabled, enabled, etc. Not sure how to avoid this at this point. How about in this case both the owner and the logger are required to "enable/ approve it" prior to it being reactivated. To stop an issue where the owner just ignores it prevent...

Re: Vantage point
Thanks, Thats a rather detailed response. To be honest I was kind of expecting just a straight "no idea and there is no way to fix it as it just doesn't like them" response. So this was really helpful and I know that that is something I would never be able to work out myself. I might take the 2 pron...

Re: Vantage point
Thanks C@W The error that occurs is "An error occured during data transfer" so it's not much help. I created the file using GSAK and it has both GCA and GC caches in it. I thought maybe that trigs were the problem but it does seem that at any GCA cache it will cause the error.I also thought by using...

Vantage point
does anyone know how to download GPX files containing GCA caches to Vantage point or direct to a magellan triton using Vantage point. I've searched the forums and all it has is that by using GSAK and exporting them all that way that it sould work. Tried it and it casuses an error at the first GCA ca...

Re: Love and Hate
Love: 1) Great locations of caches. 2) The fact that I discover more great locations due to caches being there. 3) The trek through bushland to caches 4) the fact that if I am feeling lazy (and bored) I have the option of drivebys to fill in time 5) The fact that if I'm not feeling lazy I can do cac...

Re: You know you're a Geocacher when............................
.... The deciding factor on your honeymoon destination is what has the most interesting caches. OR
.... The only reason that your wife can get you to travel overseas to the philippines to visit family is by enticing you with how many caches could be found while there.

Re: Trig caches
I found one on top of the bega resevoir today. According to geoscience australia it is an offical trig so I'm not to worried about that. However as we can't actually reach it can it still be made a trig cache? You can easily get a photo of it from the road at the base of the resevoir but could this ...

Re: GPX viewing program for windows 6.1
I might check out cachemate. But to simplify my previous question (because even I wasn't sure what I was after when re reading my previous post) I'm after something to handle paperless caching on a windows mobile 6.1 platform, preferably somehing that can operate offline.

GPX viewing program for windows 6.1
I realise that this topic has probably come up elsewhere in the forums but I have been unable to find anything in a quick look through this section. I'm after a free program that runs on windows mobile 6.1 to access GPX files in the field and to keep track of what I have found (so something like GSA...

Originally I had voted that yes GCA should ban caches being listed in known banned places. After all why should GCA help people break the law. However after a bit more thinking and reading some of C@W's comments on the capabilities of the servers/ banned area profiles I now am of the understanding t...
