Re: Android phones for geocaching

Have you checked Dick Smith? They might still have some a50's in stock. I bought one for the wife a few months ago for $199 (locked to Optus though) Yep tried all canberra ones. They have none, and according to their computer they have none in stock anywhere. Their website doesn't even list it anym...

Re: Android phones for geocaching

One thing to bear in mind is some caches you may not be able to get a data connection so unless you've saved the co-ords before you head out then it may not be much use  That's no problem, I prefer to run offline caching by using geohunter and GPX files. Tried c:geo buts it's GPX import is ut...

Re: Android Geocaching Apps

Has anyone tried GDAK? To answer my own question I gave GDAK a go prior to destroying my phone. If anyone else is currently thinking about trying it I suggest don't, at last in it's current form. No mapping (not even google), compass is extremely laggy, can't log a cache as found (maybe you have to...

Re: Android phones for geocaching

I have an etrx that I use for proper caching, but it's handy to use the phone for the impromtu caching. Does anyone have any experience with the HTC wildfire?

Android phones for geocaching

So I just destroyed the screen on my Garmin asus a50 by dropping it on a footpath. While I realise that no phone will ever be as awesome as it was I can't find anymore for sale anywhere and if I can get the screen fixed it would cost more than the phone. Therefore I've decided I figure I might look ...

Re: Newbie thread: Which Garmin handheld GPS to buy?

Hello... We have just joined up, have no idea what to do yet!! But we have Garmin eTrex H is this going to do the job? Many thanks Welcome. The etrex H is more than capable and is a tough basic GPS. I still use it after nearly 2 years and haven't been able to kill it. Don't expect it to be able to ...

Oh that's why, the solution is always the most obvious. Oh well obviously time for sleep, or maybe it's a sign I need to rotate my monitor more often.

Geohunter storing waypoints wrong

Does anyone else have issue with Geohunter storing waypoints in a multi incorrect? I've been using geohunter for a couple of months now and have just realised that it is giving me a bum steer. I've been doing a multi cache and for the life of me I couldn't find a waypoint. I would go to the site and...

Re: Cache Sizes

And of course, a nano can be much smaller than a thumbnail. I have one about the size of a matchhead, the smallest we have found was the size of a tictac, lucky we did not have to sign it ! My question is how the the hell do you fit a log in that? I was always operating under the assumption that a ...

Re: Garmin Asus A50 - Software

ps. Importing zip compressed gpx files stops Saved Locations filling up with every cache GeoHunter knows about, having many Saved Locations is really a slow down for the Garmin Maps navigator. Alternatively you can download the GPX file directly to anywhwere on the phone other then the GPX folder. ...

Re: Android Geocaching Apps

Rmaps is a mapping software I'm using. It links in nicely with geohunter. I don't know if anyone has had any experience with it though. You have to create maps for it using mobile atlas creator though.
