Re: GSAK Web Site Down

I just tried it and it's opened for me. Spindoctors noted a similar problem earlier, maybe just sporadic fallovers?

I've already found and moved a pushbike today. I'm still saying no for whole cars but hub caps are fair game lol

Re: Logging Caches in the field using a QR Codes

Most cachers using a smartphone have caching programs on their phone. I know Geosphere doesn't show the QR code on the page, but has a open in browser button. Based on this do we need a QR code in the cache?

Re: Munzees!

I don't know if this is true elsewhere but in Tassie we are seeing munzees placed at GZ of caches, and on at least one occasion, the GZ of a multi cache. I wasn't really impressed with that I must admit

Not necessarily, I know a few tassie people are looking at placing over 5 and there should still be movement of some kind across the ditch

Re: Unfortunate first geocaching experience

Unfortunately for you yeah it could be. If there was a history of burgs in the area then yeah they may be targetting anything driving slowly through that might look like they were casing houses.

Always being up front when stopped by the police is the way to go :)

Re: Unfortunate first geocaching experience

Damo, what do you mean illegally searched?

Police have the power to search without warrant any vehicle in a public place where they suspect the driver or occupant of the vehicle may have committed an offence ;)

Re: Claiming a find but log not signed.

I have had it happen where I have been to the cache opened it looked through the log book but had a brain fart and forgotten to actually sign it. If its a team that does it regularly then that probably isnt the cause, but it's worth waiting to see what their reason was :)

Re: Upload photos to GCA?

I just tested and the facility exists now. Log the cache through the phone then click on add image same as if you log by pc. Select the photo you have taken or take new photo and you're away. portrait photos automatically go landscape so you need to edit them so they point the right way ;)

Re: Who owns the land.

We need to get Pjamesk to weigh in, he works for the council, My understanding from a Tasmania Police perspective is that all land is owned by the federal government, who delegate to states. State government administers National parks and national highways, the A and B roads, and further delegate to...

Re: Garmin Oregon GPS "can't authenticate maps" - Help!

yes it can be done. I bought the card which is about 2.7g. I've transferred the files onto a 4g card. The maps work and theres room for opensource maps or other things there
