Re: OZ MEGA ALICE SPRINGS
Hi Grahame, I'll attempt to answer your questions - I live in Alice Springs and my partner is the Regional Chief Ranger for the West District of the NT Parks & Wildlife Commission. He's also working on a geocaching policy for NT Parks right now. Our input has ensured that this is policy will be a ge...

Re: List of Facebook Groups
We have a Central Australian geocaching page and would love people coming to Alice ) to get in touch so we can arrange more events and socials. We even take people out 4WDing and touring i.e. free guided tours with real outback locals - but you NEED to tell us you're coming. Facebook is THE BEST way...

Re: 2017 PLANNED MEGA EVENT - ALICE SPRINGS-NORTHERN TERRITORY
Not many locations for a mega let you cross the Simpson on the way from the east coast.... I gather it's easier travelling west to east due to the way the wind shapes the dunes, still not sure the Grand Vitara would be quite up to it unless I fill half the available boot space with extra fuel! That...

Re: Lone Cachers
I've cached alone more often than not, doing entire powertrails, remote outback caches, caches in scenic spots most of the time on my lonesome. I guess this is because of the work I do and the locations that it takes me. However I love caching with others and learn so much from them when I do. So......

Re: 2017 PLANNED MEGA EVENT - ALICE SPRINGS-NORTHERN TERRITORY
We local cachers are soooo excited and it's been so hard keeping this quiet! We can't wait for everyone to come and visit our home. We are confident that the committee will be VERY impressed with Blatherskite Park - huge events are held there all the time (i.e. this May the Ulysses Club AGM is being...

Re: Unloved - What is your total?
We've only had one find in 5 1/2 years on our Lookabout cache GC1DXHF - up on Newhaven Station (which has awesome camp grounds!). It's had one find and 2 DNFs. Gotta be some geocaching birders around who'd like to attempt it this coming winter...

Re: Alice Springs Milestone - Plan YOUR trip next year
We'd love to see you all here, anytime. We're thinking about an event, too, sometime during winter next year. Darrin (Redcenterdazza) has started another thread about it it.

Alice Springs Milestone - Plan YOUR trip next year
Hi all, Well, we Alice Cachers have done it. We've now placed 100 caches within 10 km of the post office, and we've got 161 within a 100km radius of town, mainly focussed on must-see destinations within our awesome national parks. Initially, we were just trying to pass Katherine, which has half the ...

Re: Contacting CO's
I guess it depends on where you live and how much mobile coverage you've got. We usually respond within 12 hours or less - often quicker. Both of us do remote area bushwork at times, and as soon as you go 30km outside of Alice Springs, there's no 3G reception (unless you're in a larger Aboriginal co...

Re: Anyone ever get sacked (or nearly) for geocaching?
I was a director in a government department for a few years, and I was only able to cache on my holidays - and my stats show this. I spent a lot of my life during this period living in hotels, going to meetings and being hyper-busy. It took its toll on me mentally and physically. Two years was enoug...
