Re: GeGnome Project - Photos and fun

After all that somber business out of the way it was time to play! I was really impressed that Wilbur gave the rope bridge a go and got over his fear of heights (not easy to do when you are made of plaster). He even did it the second time with no hands! http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/gg136/garde...

Re: GeGnome Project - Photos and fun

Our family was lucky enough to have at least one Aussie visitor for Australia day. We had Wilbur the Zulutroop Scout Gnome with us for our annual Aussie day festivities at the park. Wilbur and I found it hard to get out of bed to be at the park by 7am so we joined the rest of the troop there later o...

Re: Tell happy/funny stories here!

Oh and something else funny happened today,
After dinner, we were clearing up and Julia asked Shaun, "Dad, can you tell me about Quantum Mechanics?". She does that, just out of the blue...a strange 12 year old that is for sure :D

Re: Snakes... and geocaching!

I am usually fairly careful when I am bushwalking. I carry a hiking stick and beat it on the ground as I walk sometimes. Mostly though if you are caching with kids they make a lot of noise. Just slow them down a bit, let the snakes get out of your way. Every other story in this thread about drop bea...

That would be very nice, I'd love to attend an event in Canada.

Re: Is geocaching dying?

I will step up as one of those cachers who shies away from multis...and I'll tell you why. It's not the idea of a multi step cache hunt, it's because of the many mundane multis that I have begun and wasted precious caching time on only to miscalculate somewhere (who knows) along the line...maybe I m...

Re: Calling all caching scouters or is that scouting cachers.

Hmm, I would suggest using some kind of a code they have to decipher in order to get to a few different waypoints. Each waypoint would then be a part of the combination OR you could incorporate some map and compass work. I think having it bolted on with combo lock is a great idea...they can see it a...

Re: Constructive Feedback for the Next Mega Event

Thanks Mr Router for the great phone call. My last thoughts on the Mega Event: Years down the geocaching track we can say Yes we were there and wow what a first event for Australia. Like any good cache or event it is these that make geocaching what it is, great times, new and old friends, laughs, g...

Re: Constructive Feedback for the Next Mega Event

We thought about a few ways the registration process might have worked better, but came to the conclusion that it was probably the easiest (and ultimately cheapest for everyone) the way it was. Any tighter way of ticketing with a per person element, combination, or whatever, just results in having ...

Re: Constructive Feedback for the Next Mega Event

Daily program update board . I wondered what happened to several of the program events not happening (and no fault of the organisers btw) and it would have been nice to know that the Whipcracking Show was a non-event as well as the childrens rides and well even the geocaching store not showing up ....

Re: WA cache - come in sucker

I haven't been caching much recently though I did see this one come up and also that it took a while for it to be found. I guess I'll have to go and check it out now
