I think tacking a CITO event on to a regular event is a noble thing and should be encouraged.
Although I'm not much of an event goer, I'd prefer to do a CITO.

Re: Event stacking
I always thought the whole idea of the geocaching community is about "you do it your way, I'll do it mine."
No one is forcing anyone to go to events, and at the end of the day it's not hurting anybody. "Live and let live".

It sure looks that way by what they wrote.
I was only thinking on Saturday how big a job it must be for theUMP with so many caches being submitting each day.

Re: Geocaching.com smartphone date logging issue
I've posted in Geocaching South Australia Fb group, asking people to back your campaign.
Also, I know SneakySqueaky posted in another S.A. Fb group.
You seem to be getting a few posting, so hopefully Groundspeak will listen!

Re: Who owns the land.
In South Australia, there are a number of resources to the public had can help with "ownership",
however I work in the state government in an area closely aligned with the Lands Titles Office, so if anyone here has any concerns in this regard I am happy to help.

Re: Have you cached on Christmas Day?
Being a hell-bound heathen, I have cached 25-Dec-2010 and 25-Dec2011.
21 GC.com finds in 2010
& 20 GC.com finds 2011 + 1 trig.
If I was a god-fearing man, the thunder and lightning in the arvo at the Barossa, plus the car doors locking with keys inside car, would be ominous!

Re: NZ MEGA 2012 - an update
I have registered my interest. My mum and sister are in Wellington, so I'll visit them either at the start or end of the odyssey. There are quite cheap flights from Aus to NZ cropping up all the time. I just went over for Rugby World Cup, and booked 12 months ago and got 4 of us there and back at lo...

Re: Christchurch quake
I've been helping out with http://twitter.com/SafeInChch It's a twitter account ppl can ask for news about loved ones in Chch or post any news they hear. When we retweet a tweet it goes to a number of feeds that pick them up and log them on various websites. We are manually updating http://christchu...

Re: Trig points - a general discussion
My understanding of trig points is that it's got something sticking up! So the first 2 examples. If it's just a brass plate on the ground or in a pit, then it's a survey mark and doesn't qualify as a TP. However, if the TP has a brass plate you can claim the brass plate as a survey mark for the Loca...

Re: Helpful Hints for Newcomers
Regarding a hider 'finding' their own cache - I believe it depends on the type. If it's a physical cache then it doesn't make sense ... "Oh, I wonder where I hid it! Ah look, there it is!" For virtuals, webcam, possibly earthcaches, ... where a person has gone to the effort to identify them, and cre...

Re: Mobile Site browser testing, please help
Thanks for quick fix.
On my iPhone I got a "Found it" / "Did not find it" option & ability to write a log. I haven't tried to send it - is it fully functional?

Re: Mobile Site browser testing, please help
hey craigrat, Am I missing something? I have been using the mobile site to check the latest status of gnomes and stuff! (You know? "Stuff" :) ) I can't seem to find the GA number though - is that on the mobile site or have you left it off? It would be handy to have the number so I can write it down ...

Re: You know you're a Geocacher when............................
.... even though the gnomes are gno longer racing, you think gnow is more fun because there's a better chance that a gnome will still be where it's posted when you drive 50km to find it.

Re: The Moving Cache Race for 2010/2011
I assume that any gnomes I find in the wild, now that the race is finished, still wants to keep on as a movable.
I found 2 yesterday, and did look at their webpages before dropping off to see if the owner had posted anything indicating they wanted the gnome returned to them.
