Re: Snakes, Snakes, Snakes
Well, today at work I looked over my shoulder when using the theodolite and had a brown raised up about half a step behind me. Scared the hell out of me (but I didn't scream) and totally froze. It eventually went away, but came back 10 minutes later. We bailed at that point and found a new section o...

Re: How to enter/find positions in google maps
I usually just enter it without the symbols, ie. S35 26.287 E149 13.635. You can also leave off the letter and use -/+ to get the direction.

Re: TrigPointing
I'll look into it. I've got a list, I just need to convert the coords to WSG (they are on ACT grid system).caughtatwork wrote:If you can get me a list, I can load them up for ACT.

Re: TrigPointing
Just got back onto the forums recently and was excited to see this up and running. Great work (even though there are a lot of trigs missing for the ACT).
This is an awesome addition!

Calling all ACT cachers, who has something like that ?

Its really easy to do, and as previously stated punches are cheap at auto stores.

In terms of ACT, I recently used this for a multi for the second set of coords and it is seeming to work quite well. I have to say the one FTF I got was fun on the pure adrelalin scale. I was so hyped up that I ran up the hill just to get to the cache. Even if I was second, it still wouldn't have taken away that thrill of the chase. But I wouldn't be as excited afterwards. But I am not so hyped up about FTFs as so...

ummm, errr...... Just to clarify: - GDA94 is close enough to WGS84 for all consumer GPSr purposes (less than 1m). - The achievable resolution on a 1:25000 topo is considered around 25m (ie. 1mm on the map), therefore it will not matter if you use WGS84 or GDA94 in any case. 8) - IF you real...

If you are using GDA94 you can use this website for conversions to WGS:

http://www.ga.gov.au/geodesy/datums/redfearn_grid_to_geo.jsp

There is also a link that converts WGS84 to GDA94. 7 people have voted they don't care. I'm really curious as to why you don't care if the quality of caching is going down. I suggest they may have just wanted to see the result of the survey, without registering either yes or no. The "I don't know option" may be needed. I voted 'dont care' because I...

This may have been covered before somewhere in the forums, but would it be reasonable to make it necessary for someone to have found a certain number of caches before having a hide published? Perhaps 10 or 20? It may sound a tad draconian, but could be way to prevent carppy hides such as the one me...

Have to agree with Mischief's Crew on this.
It can get a bit daunting when you are new to caching and everyone continiously rants about how caching is declining in standards and new cachers are guilty of contributing to this. Maybe the comments aren't that negative, but a lot of time the underton...
