Re: Trigpoints: Is there a point 0,0 in Australia?

Great sleuthing to find that map. That shows an earlier baseline used for an incomplete survey of NSW in the early 1800's. The complete survey in the late 1800's used a different baseline. You can see the location oof the north and south base points on a map in this article: http://xnatmap.org/adnm/...

Re: Trigpoints: Is there a point 0,0 in Australia?

In the NSW, the trigonometric survey in the mid to late 1800’s established two stations in Lake George to create the primary base line. There is a photo of the Lake George North Base in Tony Dawson's "Guide to the Historic Trigonometrical Stations of Sydney's North", but I couldn't fin a listing on ...

Re: Sydney...Crosslands..Boardwalk Empire

Back on topic.... There IS a geocache called "Boardwalk Empire". Part of the zargfinders series around Manly Dam. Coincidentally, the zargfinders had dinner with the Tyreless family tonight and we were talking about their Boardwalk Empire cache and how it has gone missing a few times in the past - o...

Re: Sydney...Crosslands..Boardwalk Empire

I found one at the end of the Long Trail in Ku-ring-gai NP out the back of Duffys Forest around 2 years ago. I was looking for a spot to hide a cache (now hidden around 1.5km away with NPWS permission). It was called "Audible Bazinga" and labelled as a geocache hidden under a pile of rocks. So I sig...

Editing trig point details

I created a listing for a trig point (TS2374 - Gungartan) but some of the details created by the website are incorrect and I want to edit them. It has called the waypoint "TP7263" when it should be TP2374. It has the height listed as 2053m when it should be 2068m.

How can I edit those details?

Re: iPhone user wanting to log through gca

With geosphere you can update all the gegnomes in the field (assuming you have 3G connection). First, create a query in geocaching.com.au (ie: that will create a gpx of all caches with tag "gegnome2"). Then run that query once as a gpx and make a note of the file it creates (in my test case it is 75...

Re: What's the difference between a trig point and a survey mark

I had trouble working out what constituted a trig station when I was in NZ earlier this year. Unlike the hierarchy in Australia they describe their survey marks in terms of what "order" they fall into (see http://www.linz.govt.nz/data/geodetic-system/datums-projections-and-heights/coordinate-and-hei...

Re: Geosphere doesn't like me

I created a Group called GCA. When I import a gpx with GCA caches I put it into the GCA group. I can then filter only for this group.

Re: Does anyone use Geosphere for Geocaching Australia?

I use geosphere. In particular I have 2 bookmarks that I use. The first one downloads NSW caches from GCA (http://geocaching.com.au/caches/gca/au/nsw.gpx). The second one is more complex and uploads GCA logs. The URL is http://geocaching.com.au/my/import/. There is also a whole lot of javascript tha...
