Re: TomTom- In Car - suction cup
2: When in the relaxed mode when you push the holder onto the windscreen push VERY HARD. You want to get as much of the air out as possible. I tried slapping mine on the windscreen to get maximum air out... that worked for me a few times, then cost me $175 for a replacement windscreen ](*,) [-X , a...

Hardest terrain cache found while on WorkCover: 4.5 I slipped a disc at work, and the ER doctor advised me to stay up and keep moving in order to avoid developing chronic back pain. Over the next week, I cleared a radius of about 2km from home on foot. Then a new cache appeared on the side of a suga...

Re: GSAK not loading trig points to Oregon 450
I use the Colorado/Oregon Export Macro with my 400t, and have no problems with TPs.
The only drama I have with TPs now is archiving more than I 'find' as they turn out to be on private property.

Not quite in the cache, but this was the most unusual find:

Unfortunately, it wouldn't fit in the car to take it home.

With a topic name like that, I thought you had logged this cache
Good effort making your way to the ton, however.

Re: May be time for a new car GPS
I'm loving my TomTom One v3 but, as the not-so-current entry level unit, it won't tick all your boxes. However, if you're a GSAK user, you can easily export caches as TomTom POIs. You don't even need the TomTom Home software, you can have GSAK generate the file straight into the appropriate director...

Re: Adelaide: cannot find shop selling GPS.
Take a look at http://www.transceiverservices.com.au/ . They are close to Salisbury, on Main North Rd opposite Parafield Airport and have provided me with great service at competitive prices. ditto They beat Johnny Appleseed's (online) price for my Oregon by $50. As for eBay, be aware of where it's...

Re: Is my Garmin eTrex-H really waterproof?
Can anyone recommend an adhesive to reattach the rubber strip to an etrex? I've tried a couple but it just won't stay put. It all comes unstuck whenever I connect the power/data cable, so I resorted to keeping it in the belt pouch to hold it together. The unit's now in retirement, but it would be ni...

Re: garmin vs tom tom
I have the TomTom One v3 and think it's good. My biggest gripe is that the suction mount doesn't have any sort of active vacuum mechanism, as just about all other units do, so it tends to fall of the windshield a fair bit. I'm having thoughts of gluing it on. I use a newer TomTom at work and find th...

Re: Garmin Australian Topo V Garmin City Navigator NT
Horses for courses: Definitely Topo for walking. You can easily see if there are any bodies of water or steep changes in elevation in your path. As for driving, I haven't tried City Navigator, but I find my TomTom is way better at road navigation than Garmin Topo. The topo map/software (in road navi...

Re: Telstra & Telstra Dealers
I find it ironic that a provider of high speed networking doesn't have the technology to be able to tell you what time of day they're coming around to hook it up. I don't expect them to schedule it to the minute, but a two hour window would be nice, even AM vs PM would be helpful. Now that I no long...

My first GPS (in 2003) was a grey import c/o eBay. I got an etrex Venture for about $100 less than the oz retail price of the yellow etrex H.
Keep in mind that a more sophisticated GPS won't come from the US with Aussie maps, although there are ways and means.
