Re: What setup to use

Ok, it is all starting to come together. Got the Acer with the dual boot from Officeworks. Having some issues with Android recognising my google account even though the gmail is working. On the Windows side, have downloaded latest Ozi and installed, got the drivers for the Garmin gps and got Moving ...

Re: What setup to use

Hi All, Results of todays research. Officeworks still has the $199 Acer 10" netbooks with 160GHD but only 3 cell battery. 6 cell battery units with 250GHD,1.6Gpro and 1Gram around $378 which is doable. These come with Win 7 starter and Android dual boot. Is this an advantage, can they operate at the...

Re: What setup to use

Thank Mr Router, Wow that's even cheaper than what I have seen on fleabay. I will be at officeworks today so will check it out. I already have both ozi and gsak but haven't used gsak yet. Hopefully these netbooks have a reasonable amount of storage and a 6 cell battery to watch movies on the plane w...

What setup to use

Hi Everyone, Just looking for some input from the more technically minded out there. We are headed to NZ for 3 weeks at the end of Feb and looking for devices and applications to take that cover the following. Inflight entertainment, geocaching, autoroute and internet contact using wifi. It would be...

Re: Language in Forum

Ladies and Gentlemen, As the starter of this thread I would like to comment further. Having checked the guidlines I find that the forum is intended as a 13+ age group although the guidelines are fairly flexable. I would like to think that it was also ment to be family friendly or perhaps not family ...

Language in Forum

Hi All, I am sorry to say that I am appalled with the language used by a moderator in the topic Interesting idea with cache potential. I don't know what triggered the outburst and frankly I don't care. As a moderator we mere cachers look to you for guidance and expect you to conduct yourselves in an...

Re: Railway tunnel (or other tunnel) caches

Another to add to the collection is GC1EBN2 Tunnel of Bygone Dreams which is an easy walkin along the old rail line on a tourist steam train track that operates very infrequently due to track and locomotive issues. Shame really as we have done this ride when it was working and it was a thrill. Great...

Re: Oziexplorer - ECW files on 64bit Win 7

Hi Webguy, I am running Ozi on a new 64 bit desktop computer running Win 7 home. Everything operates fine and imports ecw maps that I have downloaded previously from the GA site. Not sure what's happening with you setup. If there are any settings you would like me to check point me in the right dire...

Re: A hearty thanks from some of the Kiwis. Again. ;)

Hi Gav and fellow Kiwis, Last time we cached in NZ we used a 70,000 tonne Ocean Liner for our Geomobile. It was great especially in Auckland where the first cache was 50 metres from the end of the gangplank. We are back for 3 weeks in mid February starting at the top end and ending in Queenstown. We...

Re: Calabraiting my Garmin 60CSx

Hi Guys, I have come across this before. The compass pointer has two modes. When the compass is calibrated and turned on it points to the north. When the compass is turned off the pointer will point toward a selected waypoint ie cache. To turn the compass on and off simply hold the page button down ...

Re: So whats your main motivation for geocaching?

When we first started I jokingly called it "Health by Stealth" and it isn't far from the truth especially as we have plenty of hills around that local cachers love climbing to the top of to place there little pieces of tupperware, or lovely bush walks that they walk to the end of before placing the ...
