What legislation drafters usually try to do, rather than banning the entire activity, they generally just try to define the part of the activity that is offending. If they define geocaching, then all we need to do is change the game slightly, so that it no longer resembles their definition and carry...

On the Historic Proprties, yes. But there's nothing saying it can't be just outside said historic property. I don't think it will get up anyway. The definition of 'geocacher' is too precise, and as such there's a million ways around it. Remembering that Jeremy owns 'geocaching' that says to me that ...

It's funny becuase the only time I expected to see Richard's name in the paper, I was expecting the rest of the sentence say:
"wanted in connection with....."

Well, I think it is a swap. One thing in, and one thing out. To be honest, I rarely swap anyway, but if I remove a TB then I replace it with a swap. Most, if not all items in caches are sort of unofficial travel bugs anyway. I've seen the same trinket moved from cache to cache around the area. Nobod...

I've got the GPSmap76S and you've practically gotta completely shield it from the sky for it to lose lock. I've even had it working inside a shopping mall! It had an 18m accuracy, but still had 4 satellites locked. The only thing the basemaps are good for is marine or light aviation use where you ca...

Err, yeah you got me there. That was really just a stab in the dark. What I should have said, which I can absolutely back up is: "Every cacher I have ever met is a premium member" but of course I've only met less than 10, so it might be possible that they weren't a representative sample.

I've never come across a PMO cache yet, although I'm sure they're out there. Most players are Premium Members, and I very much doubt they chose to be simply to do PMO caches. Paying a measly $40 per year to run pocket queries is why so many pay the money and why not? It's only $40 for a whole year! ...

I like it too. It's not necessarily better, but it is different and a little revolution now and then is a good thing. Thumbs up to Sniper for addressing those who are permanently set to "bitch 'n moan" mode.

I hear ya Rich, I'm lucky that Michele actually enjoys it, although she didn't initially, but that was becuase there were 3 DNF's in a row, first day out. One turned out to be muggled, the second one buried by earthworks, and the third was becuase we lost interest after the first 2. I persisted thou...

Go the Garmin GPSmap76S. It Floats!! That's why we got one. I figured, what point is there having a waterproof GPS if it's only going to sink to the bottom? The 76S was designed for boating and as far as I know it's the only one that floats.

Personally, I don't mind anyone using the "phone a friend" option, and I've even done it myself. After all, it's up to you how you choose to play the game, and you're only in competition with yourself. What I do object to, is people not logging DNF's as they are an important part of the feedback mec...

I use http://www.maporama.com for all my online mapping. I've got no idea how to write a script to access it through GSAK, but you can enlarge the map to what I think is the biggest online map available. If someone knows how to write a script for it, I'd love to use that with GSAK.
