Re: TrigPointing

I had a bit of a skim in the last few pages since the update (great work, thanks for the effort!) and I can't see anything about survey marks, are they treated as Trig Points or are they something different entirely? The ones I have found seem to have a red and white striped pole and the bronze disc...

Re: A few questions from a Noob or Muggle changling

I think this is the key............... Remember you will need an account for each site. They are not affiliated It's also important to note you don't have to be a premium member on the GC site to find most of the caches listed there, just a basic (free) membership will do. You can always upgrade la...

I think the idea to make trig/survey/gravity points into their own cache type like GC has benchmarks was a good idea. This was discussed in another thread recently. That way each point would be its own "cache" or find.

I personally don't mind locationless caches, but i'd only ever log them once.

Important to note is survey marks are different to trig points, but all trig points usually have a survey mark (I think, someone can probably correct me as I am no doubt wrong). At least the Trig Point Structures i've seen had a survey mark below them. I made a QLD Survey Marks locationless in the s...

If you could archive the cache on GC and recreate on GCA with the same original GCxxxx code (and corresponding logs) then that might convince people.

Logging of trackables might provide a significant hurdle though.

Which iPAQ do you have?

You can use Franson's GPS Gate to share the GPS port between multiple applications: http://franson.com/gpsgate/download.asp

Or you could try turning off the other application using the GPS while you play the cartridge.

Perhaps adding requirements to log, like a picture of a sign/landmark nearby with GPS in hand as proof. If the owner is MIA, can a reviewer make a little change like that? Or adopt it out?

I presume if you managed to find a cache that was marked as archived, this would help boost your stat up here (not that you'd want to!)?

Yes of course we do. And we believe that anyone with half a conscience and regard for this game should feel the same way. We hate it when a DNF is reported after our find - and unfortunately it has happened a few times. Someone once mentioned that there is a stats page in GCA that lists cachers in ...

Your SSL connections will be susceptible to man in the middle attacks, which your ISP will be able to do and probably WOULD do if they had to enforce the filter as it would probably be required that any filtering worked over HTTPS as well as HTTP - that's if I've understood things correctly, which I...

8. I think it would be better to have a sponsor for GCA and a well-funded website ready to deal with a sudden influx, then to try and cope with the influx that could come from a magazine article or TV segment. As much as I like the fringe element, I think this is a very good point and should not be...

I was just having a read through the rules and I was wondering, if you enter in the 3/3 category and manage to complete that, is it possible to "upgrade" yourself to the 4/4 game with your existing finds/logs and then to the 5/5 game assuming you can complete 4/4? Sort of like a bronze/silver/gold "...

Regarding this one: 10: Decathlon Find and log ten caches of any type in two consecutive days in order to claim this requirement. Find and log a physical cache where the words red, green, blue, black or yellow appear in the name in order to claim this requirement.
Can the word be part of another word, like "Redgum" for example?
