Re: Edit ECW files

If you have a 100% image you can zoom out to 33% to see the bigger picture. If you have to start off at 33% (because 100% is just a blocky pixellated mess) then there isn't much opportunity to zoom out any further. (Less than half the zoom levels available.) Hi Fair enough ..but initially you said ...

Re: Edit ECW files

What's bad about having to zoom into 33%? It's bad if what you expect to see at 100% is too pixellated to be of any use. Especially on a small netbook screen. If it wasnt 33% it would just be some other number. Yep, 100% Hi, my point is just use zoom that suits. If you modified the image to achieve...

Re: Best maps

Thanks for the reply. Have you had much to do with oziexplorer maps? Was hoping for a map with good detail for both in town and out of town area's. You can't put Ozi maps into your GPS Hi - just to clarify for readers "Ozi maps" are raster maps which you can use in many other programs besides Ozi.....

Re: Edit ECW files

Hi Whats bad about having to zoom into 33%? If it wasnt 33% it would just be some other number. Only issue I could imagine with being scanned at "too high a resolution" should be file size which may affect performance of the mapping program on less high powered display units. Ozf is best for OziExpl...

Re: Submission to Garmin to produce a tool to make BirdsEye/JNX

snip- wouldn't it be nice if you could load up parks boundaries to assist in placing caches. Hi, you can do that without using Birdseye format raster images. Points, lines and polygons (e.g. parks boundaries) are fine in vector format - forget Birdseye. Convert/create the boundary into gpx format a...

Re: Ozi Explorer maps

Hi - check ebay direct for cheaper deals than those listed above. Last time I looked someone was flogging all the 250K for <$20 where as the link above is offering them at ~$20/state! Also the same 250K maps can be downloaded for free for the Geoscience Australia website and imported in to Oziexplor...

Re: Oregon 450t - loading GPX files

can anyone explain or send link to how to load GPX files onto the SD card . I have always loaded these onto the device not SD card I was wondering if you could load GPX file via a PQ to both the device and sd card at the same time . What I want to do is run a PQ for local caches and then when trave...

Re: Garmin Dakota 10 and Google Earth?

Hi Just drag and drop the gpx files (tracks and waypoints) from the units internal memory (or SD Card) to Google Earth work space (screen). Dont use the GPS Import function in GE as that only works on older units (such as Etrex, 60 series etc - different format and protocol). You can also use Mapsou...

Re: Updated Oregon 300 via webupdater & broke it

Hi Not sure why City Navigator is not working...the issue with Oztopo and newer Garmin software/firmware versions is however well documented. AFAIK the only solution to this is to downgrade firmware as detailed in the link below... http://www.oztopo.com/updates/changes.htm or give Oztopo the flick a...
