I've downloaded and installed, but when I search for street names it no longer allows me to enter the "state", so I end up with many more hits than before.

I may have to report this to Garmin.

If your on the northern beaches of Sydney, these guys have reasonable prices ....

http://www.gpsoz.com.au/

I've not bought anything from them (I'm Melbourne based these days, but I've looked at their web site a few times).

Why not go down to your local $2 shop and see if you can pick up a mobile phone holder. I pick up this one about a year ago for $4. Works really well. Sometime I can't get it of the windscreen because the suction is that good. I'm onto my second of these after breaking the first one trying to get i...

For future reference, if you think there is some chance of damage to your waypoints (or tracks), download them to the PC first, then upload your changes. If the changes mess up your GPS, you can delete all the waypoints, then upload the copy you made by doing the download before you did the upload. ...

That presumes I have a CD.

I'm looking for the map files for something other than drawing maps in ozi - they have some information I'd like to use.

I think the best (cheapest) you can do is their Track and Waypoint manager (which I think is mapsource with the basic map of the world). A quick check shows it's $60 from Jonny Appleseed (http://www.ja-gps.com.au/mapsource_waypointmanager.html). Although a frend of mine bought a eTrex Legend C a lit...

Before I bought my copy of mapsource, I successfully downloaded maps of melbourne by using this site .... http://gps.chrisb.org/en/main.htm There is a link to the maps on the menu. My recollection was there were a bunch of steps to follow, and warnings about destroying the GPS, but in the end it was...

If I had the maps, I would buy oziexplorer - a bit pointless otherwise :D

I've been thinking about buying a copy of oziexplorer.

I'd be interested to hear from anyone who buys these maps as to their quality and usefulness.

This might make oziexplorer worth the expense.

I wanted to build a system like this for recording sports matches, each player has a tracker and you record their positions. The technology exists, but my know-how is lacking. - R .. I better go read the article now. :) I'd expect if you could get it prototyped, you'd get Kerry Packer to fund the f...
