Thought I better post so I don't get removed. I tend to do more lurking than posting, as quite often, due to a fairly busy life, taxiing 4 kids around the metro area, by the time I get to read the threads that I am interested in, have had all the comments made that I would have made. Also being a qu...

Work has given us O2 Atoms for phone, email, note taking around the place etc - bout a $1k. Can interface to a bluetooth GPS - $100 to $300. TomTom 5 can be installed (yet to see what this costs) but may need a mini SD for maps $200. GSAK can export POI for TomTom. Us IE or CacheMate ($8US) to read ...

I think the one for $17 (inc postage) from Hong Kong on eBay will do just as well.
<P>
Don't bet on it - bought one of those and had no luck getting it to work. Bought one from http://www.dontronics.com/index.html, nearly $60, but works every time. No hassle to install and Aussie bassed.

I had been doing some night cacheing, and had parked the car (registered in my wife's name) and hiked off to try to find the cache. It was in a semi rural location SE of Melb. Got back to the car (after not finding the cache) and headed down the road. Had not gone far when the mobile rings and my wi...

I usualy log my time in the cache log but by the time I do it on line I have forgotten. It's handy to see when other cachers have been if they have been the same day.

Havn't seen any while cacheing, but it is always in my mind, especially when visiting Dead Marshes here in VIC this weekend. Great place for snakes to be lurking. Down at Wilson's prom a few years back and saw 5 in one afternoon bushwalk!

Because my time is limited, I tend to do caches only in areas where I am already travelling due to family (read kids) having things on in the area. The number of cache's being placed also means that you don't need to go far to visit quite a few. If I had the spare time, I would love to do some of th...

I bought one of ebay - couldn't get it to work at all. Bought a more expensive one from this mob http://www.dontronics.com/usb_232.html. No problems with it at all. Also includes a couple of small LED's which show when it's transfering data.

GPS users must plan for outages.

Just found this link:<p> http://www.itweek.co.uk/itweek/news/2142864/gps-users-plan-outages <p> Bonnor said launches of new satellites are "only just keeping up" with current losses of around two satellites per year. But the failures could accelerate due to the number of satellites that have used up...

Not having much money, only had a 23ch AM that I must have bought with my pocket money back in about 1977 when I was still at school. Made my own anteana that I stuck on the roof with a bit of aluminium rod stuck in a wooden block, and then 4 bits of wire run down the slope of the roof as the ground...
