Re: Caching genealogy

So how does this gene thing work? All my page has is my name and nothing else http://geocaching.com.au/cacher/SpatialRiq/genealogy Is there a bottle I need to rub? Go to the "My Settings" page on GCA. On the right side there is a heading "Genealogy Page" and under that "Edit Genealogy Page" On this...

Re: Early idea for 2013/2014 race

For me a "team" game would be less attractive. This year I played when I had time and I think the team aspect would apply a level of pressure to be as OCD as others that I would not want to buy into. YMMV As much as I was not "competing" I found the non-competitive nature of the game this year less ...

... and the lazier cachers ... You talking about me? :P :P :P I think the game play changes the way we cache, not necessarily a bad thing, just different. The games are great fun and the urgency and whirlwind nature of the early weeks is as fun to watch as to participate. As I said, not havi...

Re: Bingo - The moving cache race for 2012/2013

Now let's be clear...I'm not having a go at anyone :-) I find it really interesting that it could be considered being courteous to drop a moveable when you grab one? I hadn't even vaguely considered that. I actually personally dislike the aspect of these moveable games that results in people droppin...

Re: Australian Power Trails

The records need some definition around them to overcome this. Like the Guinness people do. The wiki defines all. http://wiki.geocaching.com.au/wiki/Caching_record#Guidelines_for_most_finds_in_a_day Looks like it hasn't been updated in a while! I authored the original rules in wiki and then (correc...

Re: Apple maps not working well in Geosphere after iOS6 download

Is this an opportunity to return to our Geocaching roots and follow the arrow to GZ rather than picking the hide from satellite imagery? \:D/

Praise be to luddism! (ok, so not really luddism 'cause we are still using those satellite thingys to make the GPSr work ](*,) )

Re: Those Badges and those Darned logs!

I think yourselves and Facitman have got the wrong gist. I didn't think the OP was bemoaning long logs. Just those longs that have a generic padding on every cache completed that day followed by the actual log that are designed to gain a "badge" for verbose length. Thanks belken, I do understand th...

Re: Those Badges and those Darned logs!

Oh well.... another deflation for me. A long time ago I was very particular about ensuring that in my logs I thanked the cache owner. I took great care to spell, capitalise, space, special character the cache owners name EXACTLY as registered on the site. Someone pointed out to me that some pe...

Re: HELP!!

SS Chitral Yes Tramway rest is a good one, you do need to be ok with the stealth requirements. Sometimes urban caching can be a matter of timing and willingness to hunt in a location that seems very exposed. Mary MacKillop - Hawthorn East would also be good as would the others suggested by quiet1_au...

Re: Munzees!

Yes, unless you are the cache owner. I place Munzee in/at my own caches, but try to move them away from other peoples ones when deploying. Mind you, that also assumes the deployer or cache hider knew of the others existance. It is like the GC / GCA thing... or even Multi / Puzzle caches. How often ...
