Re: Trig? in Jindabyne
A search for TS1308 on the NSW SIX maps shows a TP that is located out in the Riverina and searching SIX maps for PM1308 and SSM1308 both returned locations up in the Walcha area. I confirmed the PM and SSM location on the NSW SCIMS website. Coupled with "Snowy Mountains Hydro Electrica...." being w...

Darrren Osbourne Cadetship
Saw this article this morning and thought some people on here may find it interesting. ABC to launch science cadetship in honour of Darren Osborne: http://www.abc.net.au/news/science/2017-09-28/abc-launch-science-journalism-cadetship-to-honour-darren-osborne/8975104 EDIT: URL BBCode not working for ...

Re: Anybody seen such a trig before?
Definitely a fire tower. On the top (under the cover) will be a compass to get a bearing for triangulating the fire.
But seriously, what is the point of a fire tower in the RNP, on the edge of a city. They could have a chopper over the fire in minutes. Just weird.
Cheers,
Michael.

For photos just google image search: Lake Toolooma. The boiler is still down next to the dam. Around here: -34.135576, 150.987858. You may be able to get to it from the end of Bundarra St but I have never been that way. To get to it from the end of Warabin St: Park at the end of Warabin St. Walk thr...

Re: Images for Locationless
Thumbs are cool. Full images are less cool. If the auto-doohickey can add a thumb to the log text (at the end), then that sounds like an easy way to log, include the image and have a thumb link generated. I agree with the OP, the process of adding thumbs to logs is a cumbersome one. Auto adding thu...

Re: Graffiti in the bush/National Parks
Yep. See this a lot. Campbelltown Council decided to fix up the track down to a spot called the Basin on the Georges River in Kentlyn. Easier access meant a lot more morons. The area is covered is graffiti and rubbish now. Makes me sad as I have been going there since I was a kid. NPWS spent a lot o...

Hello fairies. I have the following search saved in my favourites list. Up till today it gave results, now it comes back with "no caches found". Search: http://geocaching.com.au/caches/available/all/au/nsw/ If I make the search GCA only I get a result. Search: http://geocaching.com.au/caches/availab...

Re: Archived trig points
As someone who enjoys off-track bushwalking, finding trigs in the scrub is great fun in my opnion. Don't see why the lack of a track to follow should discount a TP from being active. You can re-activate an archived TP cache if you want. Go for it I say.
Cheers,
Michael.
