Re: Geocaching Australia Find Rewards

The results are in and it seems overwhelmingly in favour of continuing with the pathtags rewards. Thanks for the feedback. I'll use this information when it comes time to deal with any new or replacement tags.

Google Map of Finds and DNF's in a series based (loosely) on the order in which you attempted them.

See a Google Map of all of your Finds and DNF's in a series based (loosely) on the order in which you attempted them. Note this is for fun and entertainment purposes only and for teams with large numbers of finds and DNF's there may be an appreciable delay in rending the results. We ask for your pat...

Re: Report dragonZone issues / problems here

You an delete stickers if you don't want them. The bin icon went missing, but is now back and you should see it next to each item you can delete. The reason we have them as a countable item in your bag is to encourage you to use them else you'll end up with 1,000's. So really the easiest way to lowe...

Geocaching Australia Find Rewards

As many of you know, we hand out a series of pathtags for finding certain cache milestones. We've been doing this since about 2010. We currently hand out 100's, 500's and 1000's and to date we have handed out just under 1,000 tags across the 3 categories. i.e. A round number of about 100 per year. W...

Re: What Three Words

Also be aware that W3W will charge us for using there API if we go above 1000 requests per month. I have no idea how close we'd get to that limit. There is also a thing out there called "What Free Words" which is an open source version of the same algorithm the W3W uses. The people at W3W are not t...

Re: What Three Words

... then you could be anywhere up to 7m off the "expected" co-ordinates. That's a decent chunk of space to search. Based on the number of newbies that expect a cache to be at exactly zero, maybe 7m is a bit too far. I think you can drill down to a 3m x 3m area – just need an extra char at the end. ...

How about Plus-Codes? I'm not up with api's but did find https://github.com/google/open-location-code Interesting. There is no PHP implementation on that GitHub. I have found an encoder, but I do want to talk about the limitations. The pluscode that is returned from the code is a 14m x 14m square. ...

They have an API which we can incorporate into the Toolbox.

Do you think it would be useful?

Re: Report dragonZone issues / problems here

Only a backwards step in that it was wrong and is now right. What it does is claculate? Top points of the rank you are current in = 866,200 Top point of the previous rank you were in = 546,800 The difference = 319,400 i.e. This is how many points you have in between your ranks. Then take your total ...

I've checked the maths.

JAC is 73%
whitewebbs is 67%
sharnie's trive is 16% and as far as I can tell the arrow points the ocrrect direction.
