Re: Online Record Attempt Here - 27 Sep 2017

Other commitments meant that I missed this, but great to see the record broken, recognise some familiar names, and feel the gca forum spirit alive and well.

Re: dragonZone

Ahhh, you have spotted the flaw. Well, not a flaw, but an enhanced method of playing the game. GCA geocaches do not have to have any separation of distance. We don't need no stinkin' rules. Anyway, get someone to hide an ammo can with 365 micros inside it. Each micro is its own cache. So you now ha...

Yeah, but with real Tupperware* instead of virtual pixels

* By which I mean Sistemas, ammo cans, and repurposed mint tins.

Good to hear. Thanks for all the work. Just went and bought a pile of warm fuzzies from the shop. :-)

Re: Which map apps do you use to navigate on your iDevice?

I have maps.me and Pocket Earth Pro. Both use OSM data (OpenStreetMaps, a crowd-sourced mapping project), which you download in advance (or as required if you have internet access). I usually use Pocket Earth Pro ahead of maps.me, because Pocket Earth has contours and some better graphical distincti...

Re: History (and other) caches

In fact, Richary's post was why I was looking for the alerts page last night, because I, too, had set and forgotten, and so needed to update my alerts to make sure it was actually alerting to me to things I was interested in.

Re: Report GCA Site issues here

I've just gotten myself confused with things on the site that are called "My Profile". When I click on "My Profile" from the Menu in the top right corner, I get a bunch of tiles about GCA features such as my Queries, and the like. (Let's call this first "My Profile" heading "MyProfile1") Somewhat ci...

Re: Report GCA Site issues here

This is not the most important issue in the entire universe, but the cache "Tintagel Castle" (GC1C5F) is listed in the GCA database as being in "Unkn, Australia" ... which may be a bit surprising to those who place the legendary Arthur Pendragon, supposedly of Camelot, in Cornwall in the UK. (I was...

Re: Toolbox - Coordinates

I see MavEtJu's point (I needed to double check what was going on): the minutes are getting lost from the northing, and the degree value is getting lost from the easting (that's what happened when I entered 33° 51′ 59.36″ S, 151° 12′ 27.34″ E). If you enter S 33° 51′ 59.36″, E 151° 12′ 27.34″ then t...

Re: Proposed new home page

I agree with this. The number of clicks to get into the forum, in particular into the "New Posts" view, seems to be more than before. Otherwise it looks good, though I am still working my way around. =D> I contrived a way to get View New Posts into my "My Favourites" menu. First I went to a page I ...

I'd like to complain that I have nothing to complain about ... well, apart from the fact that this site keeps reminding me about all those awesome places and caches out there and the fact that I have no time to go caching.

I'm totally irrelevant these days.

ALso, I visit the forums more often than I cache.

I need a life. :)
