Re: Launching Australia's "OZ MEGA ADVENTURE"

I have a suggestion that the committee may wish to consider, and I imagine they would be pleased to hear what people think about this. The competition seems to lack appeal for some, and perhaps it might be a case of too busy rushing looking for answers and not see the beauty of the locations. So my ...

Re: Concerns re 2012 Oz Mega.

Tough job being an organiser, with the impossible task of trying to please everyone. People located all over this very large island, so that wherever you hold an event there will be some who have to travel long distances at considerable expense and others who find it almost on their doorstep. Some w...

Re: Launching Australia's "OZ MEGA ADVENTURE"

1 Adult, USA :D (there should be a smiley doing somersaults!) I visited Corryong during the Wagga event and loved every site and sound of the side trip! This will be a DELIGHT, for sure! I love it too - I was born in Corryong and grew up there. May be I need to plant some caches there now, ready fo...

Apples! 'Tumba' is only half an hour from Batlow and apple orchards as far as you can see or snow (not at that time of year but magnificent views of the main range from places along the roads there. Yes, I'm virtually a local from there and can't wait !

Re: Garmin Adds Multicache Support in Latest Beta

Tried the beta on my 450 and it's now bricked. Same has happened to others on the GC thread. Have tried three levels of firmware reset with no luck, so off to Garmin repair, AGAIN!

Re: Garmin - A tale of woes!

I should say that our saga ended on a slightly more upbeat note. Sent in the O300 speculatively to see what they would offer to do. Garmin Service phoned the next day after posting it to them that they would send me a new one for the flat repair fee of $250. They said ours was only the second one ev...

Re: Garmin - A tale of woes!

Well, the Winglen O300 has given up the ghost after 2000 caches and excellent service. :( Mysterious symptoms which eventually diagnosed to a cracked USB socket. The culprit seems to be the Garmin car charger which after many cycles of connecting/reconnecting has stressed the socket on the GPS. I bl...

Re: Senate for 2010 - Details, process and (self) nominations

Some of you will know that Winglen were nominated and accepted as Senators for ACT some time ago, when a couple of controversial issues raised their head. At that time we gave the issues a lot of thought, followed the thread closely, added some comments, introduced the issues onto the ACT forum for ...

Re: Have you cached on Christmas Day?

Yes definitely on Christmas Day, in spite of the rain and feeling a bit lethargic after a couple of glasses of wine and christmas pudding. Also on Boxing Day, New Year's Eve (two FTFs with McPhan), New Year's day down on the coast with McPhan and RexTrex), Melbourne Cup Day (MUCH more interesting th...

Re: Visiting Sydney, Snowies, Canberra Nov 15-23

Hello neoaddict, Were you there at O'Malleys? Hard to know who's who in that place but we did wave a GPS around a bit, looked for those who looked like cachers (whatever that means?) or had American accents, and weren't sure whether you had been delayed on your adventures or we just missed you. Unfo...

Re: Visiting Sydney, Snowies, Canberra Nov 15-23

Hello all, the reason for my irritation was that I was not aware of this thread - I mostly only watch the ACT forum, so the first I knew was when another cacher pointed this out this morning "You better look at this". So, during the day I have conferred with Jusojara and a couple of the 'Friends of ...

Re: Visiting Sydney, Snowies, Canberra Nov 15-23

So let me get this right guys... you decided nearly a week ago to hijack a get together that I organised with a specific purpose in mind, and no one has yet let me know that you're doing this? It didn't occur that a pm might be a nice touch?

Further to Bewilderbeest's note, consensus reached in the ACT. Mr W and Bewilderbeest had a discussion over the phone - found a lot of common ideas I think, and we accept the nomination. Look forward to hearing more about the proposals for the future of GCA, and to consulting across the ACT (and Que...

Our apologies for not picking up on this thread and the nomination earlier. I've been out doing a couple of remote caches on mountain tops, a long way from email and the forum. Also the email asking whether we would accept somehow went into our junk box and we overlooked it, until a phone call put u...
