This might not be 'proper etiquette' but why not, when comming upon a Cache located in a 'rubbish/dog wee 'n poo/thornybush area, leave a note to 'log your visit' on the website and mention that fact... gives others an idea what to expect and the 'owner' a chance to clean the area or relocate it... ...

....sheeez.... all this talk of suitable containers and problems with getting logbooks out.... I'm still trying to FIND my 1st cache.... ... let alone getting a logbook out to sign it and then post my find and hear the nice 'cluck cluck cluck' sounds from admiring fellow cachehunters :oops: ImaLoose...
