Re: Do cool caches grow legs (via geocachers)?

I tend to hide my cool containers in areas they won't be discovered accidentally after one was taken.

I'd love to see someone try and take this one... http://www.geocaching.com/geocache/GC3J ... -of-cement

Re: Senate - Call for Nominations for 2015

I will put my hand up again, having previously been a Senator until the 2011 elections when Big Matt took over the role. And let me say there is no criticism of him in any way at all and he is a great advocate for caching and someone I respect a great deal as a person and a GC approver. I would be ...

Re: New Program - GSAK (Geocaching Swiss Army Knife)

I wouldn't even think a screen scraper would be needed. There are sites like Project GC that actually use the API to calculate the information accurately. project-gc.com/Tools/PQSplit

If someone is good with scripts I'm sure they could write something that takes this and updates their PQ ranges.

Re: New Program - GSAK (Geocaching Swiss Army Knife)

Yes, it's a pity that none of these methods of getting the appropriate date ranges can actually automate the process of generating the PQ. I've been doing this for about 5 years, and it's amazing how archived caches reduce the efficiency of your PQs over time. It's a big job going through and broad...

the procedure is easy, the results mean nothing to me though.

I have downgraded the firmware this morning, I will see how that works.
Did the firmware upgrade make any difference Ian?

Re: "Commercial" events?

<reviewer hat on> I don't tend to have too many issues with it in line with the GC guidelines. So long as there is no entry fee to get in I have no issue with using an area that suits the community. I was actually thinking of going myself. I've often wondered how many dinner events have been held at...

Re: Locating an Archived cache

I can only assume that it was never published or its on a different site.

GCA has no profile for George Jetson
GC Profile only shows one NSW hide. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/nearest. ... rge+Jetson

Sorry.

Re: Caches in children's playgrounds

As mentioned, take the required equipment with you, a child! Even still, it's no guarantee of not drawing attention. ...SNIP Do I need to take my own or can I just grab any child off the street to take with me? I have found in the past that option 2 results in more DNF's being recorded due to being...

Re: Caches in children's playgrounds

They're not appropriate, but we shouldn't ban them either. This pandering to the crowd is what is making life less and less enjoyable. Not every person you see around is a pedo. Much my thoughts, I use the old PBL trick. 1. Decide if you want to find cache 2. Apply Peg if Yes 3. Sign Log 4. Move on
