Wow, thanks for the kind words everyone. It sure was a crazy three months, with nearly every weekend spent finding caches somewhere within the SE corner of Australia. I first started planning for this competition a couple of days after it was announced, and started 'blacklisting' caches that I would...

Was out caching from 7am till 4pm this afternoon. It was hot, and at a cache that I completed beside a river it was extremely humid. The urban ones I had to complete weren't too bad, the longest run was about 160m. Always nice to get back to the airconditioned car though. This will probably be my la...

I notice that Marcus Vitruvius (and also Craig D.) are very close to completing the 5/5 complete Well-Rounded Cacher challenge. However, there are but two and a bit days left, and they are Victorians, so it is likely to be two and bit days of hot and horrible weather. Because of some procrastinatio...

Yes it is tough, though I really enjoy the logistical challenges involved. It's also been great to find some caches that I normally wouldn't have bothered with. For example, it's because of this competition that I found my first nano! I still have many, many puzzle caches to solve though, including ...

It's been a month since the competition started, how's everyone finding it? I'm grateful that fuel has dropped in price, as chasing the elusive difficulty/terrain combinations seems to require a lot of driving! BTW- just out of curiosity, to cachers in other states...... has anyone actually found a ...

Still have 1 cache to reach 3/3, 8 to reach 4/4, and far too many to reach 5/5. Hope to have a couple of the blanks filled in by this time next week though

What happens (subject to my thinking about it again) is that whatever you claim you get entered into. e.g. If you only claim 3/3 or lower then you are entered into the 3/3 challenge. If you claim a 4/n or an n/4 you are automatically upgraded to the 4/4 challenge. If you claim a 5/n or an n/5 you a...

How quick was their postage? Their website is quoting me $50 for surface, don't think I can wait a couple of weeks  I only paid $25USD for express postage from Geomangear and had it in less than a week 8) I'd send them an email and query that shipping rate ... $50.50 seems a bit steep and it...

I bought a Vista HCx from the US last year to upgrade from the Venture I'd been using from my 6th find and am very happy with the new unit. With the discount it's less expensive than the Legend at $US 232.99 + postage :) . A grat deal from Geomangear IMHO 8) How quick was their postage? Their websi...

Sorry, you are correct Dik, the protocol should be Difficulty/Terrain  I place greater emphasis on the terrain of a cache (all about the journey etc), hence in why I had the terrain first. I`ve got a 4.5/3.0 on my list, the closest to home - GCRKQ7 Tantangara ( http://www.geocaching.com/seek/c...

Spent a couple of hours today doing some preliminary planning for this competition. It seems that there is no active 4.5/5.0 (Terrain/Difficulty) caches in Australia  In Victoria we are missing out on an additional 8 combinations, being 1.0/4.5, 2.0/4.5, 2.5/4.5, 3.0/4.5, 3.5/5.0, 4.5/1.0, 4....

We were pondering the next comp yesterday too, as we were walking up a steep hill to a 4/4.5, and wondering whether we should be "saving" tricky caches for a potential competition. The same thought went through my mind when I tackled BeDevilled last weekend - a good 5/5 cache wasted ;) Just been lo...

Thanks guys, never realised I could turn off images in my browser! This should cause a substantial downturn in Telstra's profits  I just discovered the select by State option on the main page, now I'll never miss a newly published cache again. My mobile caching toolkit is now complete :D Th...

I've been using this feature a bit too, quite handy for looking through previous logs on tough caches. Is it possible to have the images hidden by default? Being with Telstra I get charged a metric ****load for data, and it would be great to only recieve a few kb of html rather than load a couple of...
