Amazon promoting geocaching

I received an advertisement email from amazon.com today.
The subject was "Treasure in Your Backyard--Geocaching with Magellan GPS at Amazon.com" and it included the text "As someone who's purchased hiking and outdoor books, you might like to try the exciting outdoor activity called geocaching. E...

Hamster, I think your thoughts are sensible and I agree with you. Matches are another item that raises debate.
If the cache is unlikely to be found by unsupervised children I don't think it is unreasonable to use these items as treasure in a cache.
I saw the link to the Vic police reference, i...

I think getting on the help line too early does devalue the experience for everyone - yourself, the cache owner and other finders. I've done it and been very grateful for assistance on some occassions, especially when I was new to the sport and inexperience. But to contrast, recently I phoned a frie...

I think you goto your profile and click to import logs and it will fix it up for you. EDIT: http://geocaching.com.au/my/ and them "Import Logs"
Cached said that they had checked all of their logs on both sites and they were identical. I would think that (re)importing wouldn't help.
I haven't...

Dingbats figures are two less on GCA too. However, I haven't logged any event caches. I've hosted an event cache and my hide count is correct. I have only logged finds for two mystery caches though?

Re: Kookaburra

The reason I've not bothered to attempt this cache is because the last 4 finders have complained that WP1 is barely legible and that they had all sorts of problems working it out.

Agree, but note the context of my comment. How many first aid kits contain 15 cm bandages?
I'm suggesting that it is better to build your own, the commercial kits have all sorts of unneccessary stuff that adds bulk and weight. Second, sufficient bandage is required for one's own leg or those in...

Snake bite - the main thing to achieve it to keep the person calm. Stay calm - stay positive - be a little jovial and act with reassurance. Explain what you are doing, why you are doing it and explain that everything is going to be just fine. This is a good explanation of the most important step in...

Hi
Just one comment in relation to treating snake bites. Unless your kit contains at least three reasonably wide bandages, I would suggest it is likely to be useless. If you don't believe me, take your kit or bandage that you carry and try and adequately bandage your leg ... see how far it goes...

*laugh* The ability for owners to recommend their own cache should just be stamped out. It should be a given that owners recommend their own caches.

If I felt I that couldn't / wouldn't recommend a cache that I set then I wouldn't set it. For me this is the point of geocaching.

I like the first two, even though they were published before I was involved in geocaching.
I reckon if we can keep them up they will serve as an interesting record history in years to come.
Some ideas for content not necessarilly good or new:
- a guess at how geocaching could develop.
-...
