Re: GCA in same area as GC?
Of course, if it's the same thing that's already had a cache dedicated to it, then it's pointless to do it again. As far as close proximity to existing caches, I see two issues. One is the confusion between boxes, of course. The other is that how different can the experience of finding your cache b...

Re: Contacting CO's
Great replies, thanks :D Yeah we were in each area for a few days so we were hoping we might have heard something before we left each town, but it just wasn't to be. Good to know that it sounds like most people will reply eventually. Two were contacted via sms and the other two were through GC. One ...

Re: Munzees!
Finally decided a few days ago to check out what this Munzee stuff is all about, had a good read of the site and this thread, downloaded the app, searched my area, and..... not a cracker! Awww So I still have no idea how it all works, but looking forward to finding one one day!

Contacting CO's
Just wondering on some thoughts about contacting CO's from out in the field (so to speak) :-k We've had 4 separate instances in 2 states whilst we were on holidays last month, where we've tried to contact (an active) CO while we're at GZ, for a more specific hint after searching extensively, and/or ...

Re: How many do I need to find to use a generic log
I like my log to reflect the effort that seems to have gone into hiding the cache. The more caches I have hidden, the stronger I feel about this. I try not to use the same log, no matter the number of caches. I try to customise even if it is a very similar log for use on 'series'. I also feel my lo...

Re: What should be a short trip....hours later
Can definitely relate to that. We left Pakenham at 10am, cached all the way home and arrived home about 6pm. It's usually a smidge over a 2hr trip. :P text messages from my mum who lives in a town near us "thought you would have been home HOURS ago, is everything alright??????????????" texts from ou...

Re: Anyone ever get sacked (or nearly) for geocaching?
We're self employed, but if we have to travel somewhere for some businessy type reason I have usually worked out what caches are on the way/close handy by the time mr2max finishes telling me where we're going. ;) I don't think he would sack me, but I have been grumbled at on more than several occass...

Re: Caching genealogy
I was surprised at how short my genealogy was! Team Geocoopers Alex Karl Gramp. And then Madcat, if you go into the loop of caches found after placing caches, but I'm going to stop at Karl Gramp's GCEB "Sandy Creek" placed in December 2000, the first in South Australia. Mine ends with MadCat (aka S...

Re: "Throwdown" or "angel cache"?
Thanks noikmeister, ian-and-penny, and jonnosan+2 for replying to my post and giving me lots of angles to think about. In the few days since we found the cache GC12TXT, another cacher has looked for and found it and reported a NM log as well due to the poor condition of the container and log. They a...

Re: "Throwdown" or "angel cache"?
Interesting discussion re the for's and against's of helping with missing and broken caches. We found one today where the container is letting water in and the log book was soaking wet and feeling slimey. We logged a Needs Maintenance but are now pondering the idea of going back there and replacing ...

Re: Small pens
smiggle have keychain pens that are very handy Any idea about what size they are? I have one of these on my car keys. I think from memory they are about $4.95. The pen itself measures approx 8.5cm and overall including the clip, mine measures 11cm. They are actually a little longer, but I removed s...

Re: R U OK - Depression & Geocaching.
Sue, thank you so much for starting this thread. It's really been an enlightening read, and a great support in a raising of hands to show others that they definitely aren't alone. I have crossed paths with 'the black dog' once before and the whole experience, now looking back, scared the cr*p out of...
