Re: How many people still visit the forums

Give it time, there are so many private groups that eventually people will move back to find out what is happening.
Like cache pages with banners may the odd link to GCA forum for the latest forum news could work.
I do visit every now and then but injury over the last 5 years has kept me occupied.

Re: Testing GPS accuracy

Where's geomatica when you need him? He is/was a surveyor, and would know the answer to this question.. Is there more to the answers above? There are many variants to this question but as a general rule of thumb in an open area such as a oval you can expect a accuracy of around 3 metres, in other w...

Re: Iphone cachers

As mentioned in an Android thread here, I've sat my GPS60C and my Nexus One down next to each other when placing a cache and let each one settle down and average coords (using the GPS Average app on the phone) They end up within a digit of each other every time, and are never far apart in any case....

Re: Did the logging rules change and nobody told me?

Speaking of logging ... I found an FTF this morning... sort of ... when I got back to the laptop I found the cache was "offline". What is the ettiquette in this situation? Refer Stoney Creek http://coord.info/GC34M00 I feel bad, but dont want to give up an FTF either? :-k <p> Shame, Shame you shoul...

Re: Welcome to the Easter 2012 Oz Mega Event

It is still a long way to go for the OZ Mega Albury, but we need your help. Unfortunately in the states other than NSW Geocachers will not see the release of the Oz Mega for next Easter, so we are asking for your help to let other geocachers know about it that perhaps do not visit this forum or only...

G'day All, Al Bunj here, and my wife and I are at the Tjukayirla Roadhouse on the great central rd, WA, between Laverton and Warburton, or, for those not sure of where that is, halfay between Perth and The Alice. Not many Caches around here, i've found 7 so far, which is about all available to me f...

Re: Launching Australia's "OZ MEGA ADVENTURE"

I have a suggestion that the committee may wish to consider, and I imagine they would be pleased to hear what people think about this. The competition seems to lack appeal for some, and perhaps it might be a case of too busy rushing looking for answers and not see the beauty of the locations. So my...

Re: Concerns re 2012 Oz Mega.

Quoting myself from the "Launch" thread. I'm sorry, but I would like to be a voice of dissent. I doubt I will make the effort to attend this one. For the expense of attending, I, and many others, cannot see the value in a bag drag across essentially the same area as last time. I'm not convinced by ...

Re: Concerns re 2012 Oz Mega.

I probably won't attend at this stage - but I still could be turned around. The majority of people posting here are saying that they aren't planning to attend - there is quite a correlation between their concerns, particularly about moving camp, and their lack of intention to attend. And as I said ...

Re: Concerns re 2012 Oz Mega.

Before penning another reply this evening, I would like to ask: How is the convoy to Tumbarumba going to be controlled? Having caravans, campervans and hordes of cars parked on the side of the road collecting caches on the way seems to be an accident waiting to happen. This is personally my main co...
