I would have thought that digging a hole to the cache would leave it rather obvious that something had been going on - even after shovelling the snow back into the hole! Though usually I try not to go digging in the snow too much nowadays as the novelty has worn off and it makes even the easiest cache a bit of a haystack.

You may want to consider adding "ref=nofollow" to all user supplied urls such as profile websites and the like. This prevent search engines from following those links or at least not using them for adding to a pages rank, that reduces the value of a spammer adding their profile to this site to zero....
