Re: Travel Bug From US To AUS

Wow, I haven't been on this site in ages, and come on to see what's up before my trip in April and see this post. I'll probably be in GR Thanksgiving time, maybe we could meet for an exchange. Send me an email through GC. BTW, you should REALLY think about a trip at Easter for the Mega in Alice.

Re: We're coming!

Jim, you can buy Garmin maps of Aus/NZ on Ebay. The nuvi should have a card slot on the side that you put the chip in. Not sure, but It might be cheaper to buy it here and mail it to you're daughter. It sure is nice to have the detailed maps when exploring new areas.

Re: Cache Regret... the one that got away.

Here in Michigan, one of the Ape caches was less than 200 miles away, always thought, eh, I'll get it eventually.

Re: Help a couple of newbies out? (Toowoomba QLD)

Jenna, you might want to try looking for larger cache containers for starters instead of micros, they are 'usually' easier to find as you gain experience. Keep an eye out for any meet n greets, events in you're area as well, these are great places to ask questions and get answers fast.

Re: Ideas for Activities at a Winter Event

You've done closest to the pin before? where you place a marker with you're name on it where 'you' think GZ is at? Last year I did a twist on it, was called GeoGolf. You are given 5 waypoints to mark, but they are done differently, one/two with just the coords, one where you go to the wp, then proje...

Re: OZ MEGA ALBURY WODONGA

Yup, the countdowns have begun. 9 days till I leave the states. 4958 cache finds logged, 2 events to attend in 8 days to add 30 or so finds, 2 in Brisbane, 2-3 in Mebourne, then off to Albury to bring my count to 4999 before entering the gates. Lots of TBs packed, heaps of Pathtags, I think I am rea...

I had heard on the news here in the states that it could possibly disrupt GPS recievers. Hopefully we will have clear skies and maybe see an aurora.

Re: Premium Member only caches

I place my caches as PM to start off with because I enjoy looking at the Audit log to see who is quickest off the mark :D :D Audit log? whats that? :?. With PM caches, it will show who has looked at the cache page to the CO, this would be one of the reasons for puzzle caches to be PM, the CO can se...

Re: Just saying G'day

Welcome MB, as you have found, this can be addicting. The best way to meet other cachers is to go to an event. There will be quite a few on Feb 29, many cachers are working on filling their 366 grid, finding a cache on every date of the calander, and a lot of them need the 29th since it only comes a...

Re: Who can help us with our honeymoon planning?

You can also set up you're own meet and greets in the various areas you will be passing through if you can't find a local cacher to set one up for you. I know someone who set one up that was held at their campsite, they just had to change the event page at the last minute to let everyone know the ca...

Re: visiting from California

Hi Methvin, I too am planning a trip to Melbourne, going to the Oz Mega in April. If you haven't come across this in you're planning, take a look at the Penguin Parade and wildlife sanctuary on Phillip Island. You also might want to set up a Meet n Greet so you can meet some of the local cachers. So...

Re: Brisbane airport caches

Good to know both are easily reached on foot. Flying in at 5am and out at 8 on Quantas, so they cover the shuttle to the terminals, hopefully customs doesn't take too long and I can get to both, otherwise I'll head to the viewing area. Looking forward to meeting everyone in Albury.

Thanks for all the info. BR&C, that is the cache I was looking at, and I suppose at 5am, the traffic shouldn't be 'too' bad.lol

Brisbane airport caches

While researching flights to Melbourne for the Mega in April, I found some flights with a layover of 2-3hr in Brisbane, and was wondering if any of the nearby caches are able to be done on foot from the terminals? It looks to be the only way I could add a third state to my stats on this trip.
