Re: How did everyone go in the floods/fires?
I had one cache go under here in Rockhampton. The thing is I planned for it to go under so its all fine with it. Talking to a couple of other locals it looks like they may have lost a couple.

Re: Who owns the land.
I remember seeing something on DERM's website here in QLD that said "78% or 79% of QLD was crown land. This included all public roads, parks, sports grounds, showgrounds, etc". Basically all council owned land is state crown land but maintained by council. Just can't find the link now.

Re: FTF Prizes - Usual Practice
I've put in FTF prizes in hard and easy to find caches. It depends on how I feel at the time and if I want to. I've never felt like I should do it. I've also left FTF prizes for the next cacher to collect. Not that I didn't like or want the prize. Spread the prizes around to people that may be unluc...

The site hosting comes up for renewal at the end of Aug. If you want a copy get it now as I'm thinking about not renewing the hosting.

Re: Caches to Nuvi 1450
I'm using a 60CSx so this could be different for the Nuvis. What about a POI file (Points of Interest). Just get GSAK to make one for you and put it into POI directory on the GPS or SD card. Waypoints should be just about unlimited and fast. You may have to give GSAK a cache BMP icon file so a cache...

I've got a P7 and it's a dam good touch. Might have to get another one.

Re: Garmin GPSmap 62s
I have the Garmin Aus Topo...and don't bother using it any more....a total waste of time. What version are you talking about? V2 or V3? There is no version #...Garmin Australian...Topo plus 2007...which is 10m contours for all Australia. We may be talking about different things?? Sounds like you're...

Re: Garmin GPSmap 62s
I will put Contours on when I can get it to download and I'm having issues with OSM but I think it is a lack of experience uploading maps on my behalf or my dodgy copy of MapSource. Have a look at this tutorial on installing OSM into Mapsource . Also if your trying to send multiple (2 or more) maps...

Re: GPX V1.1
Hi A while back I cranked up the new version of GSAK and it politely suggested I use the V1.1 version GPX files as they apparently contain some extra info. Fine - I change the settings on my pocket query to download V1.1. Loaded the resulting file into GSAK and did a bit of filtering and sent GCs o...

Re: Garmin 60 CSX - $299 at Anaconda
I currently use a Garmin map60 CS , but the reception weakens under heavy tree cover. Is it worth investing in a Garmin map60 CSX as they are surposed work better in that situation? :-k I've got both. I haven't used my 60CS in years as the CSx is far better when it comes to reception. Also you can ...

Re: GPS basics
I'd still bet on the Etrex for accuracy against any of your fancy expensive models though! It might not be better but it can equal them. And it kills a phone GPS, I found that out yesterday. I wouldn't. As an etrex (yellow) owner for a number of years and nearly 1,500 finds with it, I upgraded to a...

Re: Newbie thread: Which Garmin handheld GPS to buy?
The reason why the 60CSx is so cheap is that Garmin is going to discontinue that model. It is to be replaced by the 62 series.

Re: Garmin Nuvi 500 GPS
I still haven't decided what to do about a GPS. We have one for the car now, but it's not designed for geocaching. It works ok if I type the coordinates in though. When I started Geocaching 9 years ago no GPS was designed for Geocaching. Any GPS that you could enter coordinates into it could be use...
