Re: New phones to have 30cm GPS accuracy in 2018
Some years back Garmin put out a "Nuviphone". It was an android smart phone but with Garmin GPS software included. The GPS was said to be the same as in a normal Garmin GPS. I had one and found it good except the CPU etc was low spec so everything was too slow. It was just a smartphone with the same...

Re: Android Geocaching Apps
Just found an interesting Android app that could be used as an additional tool for geocaching. Its called Cloudnotion. The idea is that using your android device, you leave a geolocated message. The message is only received when you are within a certain distance from where the message was left. When...

Re: Being reamed for data charges when overseas
I use a NZ Telecom prepaid sim when I go to NZ for work. I top it each time I go back and buy some extra data on top. I use Skype to ring back to Australia which uses said data, not calls. I hotspot the phone to my laptop for data also. Typically, a week in NZ working will use up about $40 worth to ...

Re: Android Geocaching Apps
Could not see any way to increase the log font size in the pro version. I wanted the proximity alerts hence buying the pro version. I have since found that this does not work the way I thought it would. It only alerts the active cache, not any cache you may come near.

Re: Android Geocaching Apps
I downloaded Locus Pro the other day and have been giving it a try. Excellent program. The only trouble is that the Garmin nuvifone A50 is a little underpowered for all the features. It can take a while for things to load etc. I would consider updating to a more modern Android phone if I knew I coul...

Re: Android Geocaching Apps
:D The new Oziexplorer Beta 1.09 is a huge advance on 1.08 and with the addition of your own screen designer. I was toying with dragging the old Garmin Oregon out again but looks like I will give the Garmin Asus A50 another chance now. http://www.oziexplorer3.com/android/oziexplorer_android.html I c...

Re: Android Geocaching Apps
Now that I have lots of data allowance and c:geo on the Nuvifone, today I loaded up "Live" maps and picked up 7 caches on my way home from Tamworth. This is about 6 more than I have done for the whole year to date. I can see me doing a lot more caching now. Has anyone has worked out how to import a...

A grizzly multi - not for the kids!
I am an avid audio book listener and have been a fan of Scott Sigler and his mate J C Hutchins for some time. I recently revisited some JC Hutchins audio at Podiobooks.com and found that he has added a prequal to his excelent 7th Son story. I was dosing in bed this morning having a listen to a few e...

Re: iPhone Apps for geocaching
I'm guessing I have to pay money to the iTunes store now <sigh> Jailbreak the iPhone - use a program called "GreenPo1son". Install "Installous 4" from the Cydia repository (installed when Jailbreaking the iPhone). You will be surprised to see what is available on Installous". Installous is much bet...
