For those who are interested, Next Destinations fixed the device for $60.00. Apparently the fault is reasonably common: the back of the buttons perishes somewhat creating an insulating layer wich prevents them from working effectively.

Magellan Repairs
Hi, I have a Magellan 100 which is about 3 years old. It's hardly been used but when I last went out to log some sites, I found only a couple of buttons work. I've tried re-booting, new batteries etc but no good. Is it worth trying to fix or do I bite the bullet and chuck it? If fixing is an option,...

I reckon there's not much point in going to rubbish dumps either. A little while back I looked for a cache at a beach lookout. I suspect that the temptation to urinate on a very early morning surf check can be almost irresistable for many young surfers. And so it had proved here. The smell was as ba...

A really important thing to think about. A young father of two from up this way was killed a couple of weeks ago trying to find his car parked in the Blue Mountains. Apparently, he was following his GPS at the time. He fell 70m off a cliff in the dark. His partner was there at the time. An awful tra...

Australian Seasons
Reading the "Was I too sarcastic thread?" made me think about the whole idea of assigning Antipodean seasons using a European model. Right now we're going through the thunderstorm season. Soon, hopefully, it'll start to get to the rainy time when we get the leftovers of the monsoons sweeping down fr...

Hi, I'm Geoff, a Central Coast shoolteacher. Got a GPS for my birthday to record Aboriginal Art sites around the local area and beyond. I stumbled on a "muggled" cache a few years ago: Two Bay Blues and found out about geocaching then. With a new GPS, Magellan 100, I needed to learn to use it before...

geocoins
Hi CraigRat
Thanks for the response..I took down the number of the coin when I found it but, stupidly probably, don't know quite where to go with the number to find the coin's travels.

Whip Snakes
A whip snake, like you'd find around Sydney sandstone country, is a slender, lithe creature up to a metre in length. It is a very soft grey colour with a black comma surrounded by light yellow just near the eyes. It is terrestrial and occasionally may have a russet patch on the back of the neck, tho...
